Proviron: Should it be a vital part of PCT?

What's up everybody? Happy new year to all.

From studying proviron i think it could be included in PCT. The drug has some very interesting properties that would make it a welcome addition to an aggressive PCT protocol, for example, coming of a long cycle or one that used highly HPTA suppressive drugs. (The nandrolone family)

Proviron is not liver toxic, so it can be taken for extended periods of time. This would make it useful for longer (6+wks) PCT protocols.

Proviron does not suppress lowered levels of FSH and LH, this would be a welcome trait of the drug during PCT.

Proviron has a high binding affinity to SHBG. SHBG binds to testosterone rendering it essentially useless. During PCT you'll need all the free testosterone you can get.


Proviron has been shown to exhibit anti-depressant properties. Although the doses used were high (300-450 mg daily). One could speculate the higher recommend dosages used by bodybuilders (100-150mg daily) could be used to treat post-cycle depression.

So there you have it. IMO proviron can be combined with other PCT drugs, especially after a highly suppressive AAS cycle to regain optimal HPTA function.

Absolutly 100% proviron should be used as part of PCT.Prov amongst other things lowers estrogen levels and this alone increases HPTA function.

You always find interesting stuff bro, glad your finally a vet! It would make sense that it could help, it certainly wouldnt be a hinderance, so i see no reason not to give it a go!

What about as a bridge?

Proviron is one of the most important drugs in bodybuilding, and i would never do a cycle without it, its good to see its coming back to the forefront. When i first came here i rarely saw any posts about it, but now i see them everyday!

I run it with primo as a bridge, get less sides than using a test bridge and the proviron prevents a loss of libido, so i think its a very good bridge!

Proviron is a greate drug! Running prov. in pct will mask the problem of being supressed, because it will increase libido, prevent depression, downgrade estrogen-levels(which helps hpta come bact to normal), increase strengt and energy.

So, how do you include proviron in the pct?

is it ok to use along side nolva AND clomid

it doesnt reduce there effect in any way does it?

and am i to assume this is to be used just post cycle and not while on?

Proviron run at 50mg or less a day during PCT should maintain libido and lower estrogen without suppressing the HPTA.

Personally I think proviron's best asset is it ability to increase libido (Nark and I call it bodybuilding viagra) and its anti-depressant effect. I feel pretty good on just 50mg ed.

The increased libido is a definate plus... and the main reason i'd add it to PCT.

That's a plus unless you get no 'gina... and "pumping your muscles is as good as sex" lmao (anybody remember that thread?)

the shbg-binding properties are a plus too as big 'k mentioned.

Post-cycle AND while on.

Proviron is a moderately effective Aromatase Inhibitor.. so it has definate on-cycle use

might be a little off topic but.....

Because it has such an ability to bind to SHBG would it be appororiate then to use it i weeks 8-12/8-14 and then on through pct. There was a great thread started by pinnacle a while back about SHBG its effects on cycles tword the end. Wondering if proviron would be a suitible substance to help this problem as well.

Yeah i guess it could but i don't think SHBG levels are totally to blame for slowed/halted gains after a long cycle. I have reason to believe its lowered muscle satellite cell activity.

hi,i tried some prohormones nor19 a couple of yrs ago when they were legalit work grt,but my libido is still low should i try some proveiron? tanx

Yes, try it and see. Try 25mg/ED and see how you go. I use 50-75mg/ED when using it during PCT.

Well i do not think proviron would be a good addition to PCT and here is why:

1) Provirone - even when used at 150mg for 12 months - does not have any anti estrogenic effects. Contrary to popular believe. ( This was demonstrated in 1991: Gerris, Peeters, Comhaire, Schoonjans, Hellemans; Placebo-controlled trial of high-dose Mesterolone treatment of idopathic male infertility)

2) Provirone has the potential to supress LH and FSH. This potential alone should exclude it from any PCT protocol (Varma, Patel; The effect of mesterolone on sperm count, on serum follicle stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, plasma testosterone and outcome in idiopathic oligospermic men; 1988)

3) Provirone has the potential to lowers SHGB - this is good you may think BUT did you know SHGB is needed to convert androstenedione to test? (1) Cavaliere H, Abelin N, Medeiros-Neto G.Serum levels of total testosterone and sex hormone binding globulin in hypothyroid patients and normal subjects treated with incremental doses of L-T4 or L-T3. Did this study mention to what degree, or in comparison with say testosterone . I was always led to believe it was only mildly suprresive which doesnt actually contradict with your findings.

Yeah you are right on this point.
The study compared 110 men with normal test, LH and FSH.
Approx 12% did expierence a supression of LH and FSH (only a mild supression about 10% if i recall correctly).
Approx 10% did expierence a rise in Testosterone levels (some up to 25%).
For all others there was no change in test, FSH and LH noted.
Test dose which was used was 100mg/day.

There are other stuides which show that 150/mg day are definatly supressive for all study participants.

Nevertheless my point was, that Provirone has the potential to supress LH and FSH. This is contraproductive during PCT. I would not take chances in this department, as a quick recovery is crucial for keeping as much gains as possible during PCT.
