    Genetic potential is bullshit

There is no Genetic potential, just weak minds who can't break through and push beyond a barrier.

With that being said, I do not believe a person should wait until he has hit his "genetic potential' till he begins adminstering AAS. I believe once a person has a solid foundation of muscle and a goliath mountain of knowledge He/She can utilize the benefits of alternative supplementation such as AAS.

I'm in agreement to an extent here. Although having a final genetic potential as far as attaining a certain size based on pre-determined and post-determined environmental factors is logical in some aspects, the whole issue of trainees complaining that they reached their genetic potential after a year or so of training stems from the moronic ramblings of Mike Mentzer IMO. This guy was always talking about genetic potential being reached in a matter of months, on a proportional basis, rather than one that tapers off dramatically. I feel many people half-ass their training, their diet, etc and cry "genetic potential" the second they hit a wall. I guess impatience is just one of bodybuildings vices.

Bah, no one will ever know for sure. It is true however that eventually it becomes more and more difficult to grow and to keep gains after a cycle has ended. Maybe, just maybe, the problem is that as one gets bigger, the body does not produce more test in response to the added size and so e3ventually, there just isn't enough test to keep you growing. Throw in the declining test levels of older men and you have yourself a problem.

I know where you are coming from here st8, but I have to disagree slightly. You are contending that most people are looking for "excuses" to do certain things, or to use as why they "can't". That part I AGREE with. Excuses are just people's weekness.

But, I do know several buds that are truly genetically "gifted". They don't watch their diet, don't workout regularly-if ever, and party as often as they want and yet, they are around 10% bf, vascular, striated muscle wise and look damn good overall. I am not jealouse, well maybe a little, of these guys-really they motivate me to be bigger, stronger and in better shape than them so they can look at me and say "man, I sure need to start working out and watching my diet." I enjoy answering them with a "yes, you sure do." But in all honesty, they are very fortunate to look like they do with minimal efforts towards their physique. I cannot, no way - no how, get away with their bad habits and look good at all. So, I will contend that there are "some" genetics that play into the makeup of our bodies!

    peace,

I have to disagree with you on this one. A close friend of mine weighs about 260 and it is all muscle. He eats anything he wants and still doesnt gain any bodyfat. When we were Juniors in high school, he set a bench press record of 430lb. He has never taken any supplements, just gifted.

I also disagree. I don't understand your reasoning here. Genetics play a big role in all development. If you have a tall family your chances of being tall are greatly increased. Same goes for muscle and size. Thats like saying a weak mind can not grow any taller...

You are all off-topic. All I said was that you should not wait until your 45 and your test levels start dropping(that being genetic potential) to adminster anabolics or androgenics. My point of this thread is that if a person aquires a good amount of knowledge and puts it to use using nutrition, rest, proper training, and supplementation then he/she should start thinking about AAS. Point is if you want to be at your prime and be something in the bodybuilding scene then you will be too late, will have missed the boat if you wait until your genetic potential, which believe me is way past the age of 23, to start anabolics. Please re-read the original post and reply again if you feel fit.

Where did you say not to wait to 45 years old or test levels starting to drop or peak or whatever in your first post?? Bro, I think we all posted right on topic of what you "said", maybe not what you "meant to say", but we all went off of what you said. Reread your own original post and repost if you fill fit.

well i will honestly say that regardless of genetic potential or not, i only waited like a yr and a half after lifting before i started AAS, i was into many OTC supplements and had managed to gain around 30lbs staying with protein, creatine, andros, etc...then when i decided to take the big step, i took it =\

Obviously genetics will determine how big you can get. Very few of us have to genetic to attain the size of ronnie coleman, even w. 100g's of juice a year.

I think that people who complain that they cant get big need to get their diet and training in check with their body types. Meso's can gain faster then ecto's, but thats not to say an ecto cant get big, its just a question of how big.

No flame intended, but some people don't seem to understand what potential is.

    po·ten·tial (p-tnshl)

    adj.
    1. Capable of being but not yet in existence; latent: a potential problem.
    2. Having possibility, capability, or power.

    n.
    1. The inherent ability or capacity for growth, development, or coming into being.
    2. Something possessing the capacity for growth or development.

Not sure I understand what was originally meant on this thread but genetics play a huge role in what you can get from your body....all juice does is enhance what you got.....alot of people say if I used gear I could be as big as him etc....but let me be the first to tell ya those boys are almost all big natuarrally they just use gear to enhance it.....I am from MN and never spoke to Tom Prince and do not know him but I did see him in high school and he was bigger as a junior than Mike Tyson is today and already had those freaky legs.....I doubt if that came from gear since gear would do almost no good for a seventeen year old kid...he defintiely has some genetics on his side....cause I could do all the gear in the world and not grow legs like that.....Peace
