    tournament results

wow i feel good but sore as hell ,after posting this thread going to the hot tub and taking a darvocet

juice junkie got 2nd place gi heavyweight in under 2 year division then hurt his elbow and could not go on for under 2 year open
    still brought home a medal

tapout(me) got 1st place super heavyweight division in 2-4 year intermediate/advanced division
    and
got 2nd place in 2-4 year intermediate/advanced open division
    i got a medal and a trophy

(first contests goes by weight class then open is any weight fights any weight in that experience level)

i had the strength and size on the one who beat me but damn he was technical and i was completely out of air. i really wish i had put may ass on the stepper more and had better air but i only trained 1 and 1/2 weeks for tournament so i am very happy with results. when you are nervous and anxiety kicks it takes that air away, and fights were 6 minutes with no resting allowed.

thanks bros for all the good wishes and jj and i will start training for october--need to get my wind better--i'm bit by the tournament bug again

I train too. I spent the last 6 years in Japan and competed 4 times. I'm 2-2 in MMA and since relocating to SoCal have started to work on the ground game more. Before I was classic ground and pound but take that out I'm not as effective. I'm really concentrating on more BJJ and submissions.

JJ - brother, to even compete and put it on the line like that says something. I wouldnt worry about your results as your only going to improve and learn from these tourneys. Not making any promises but this Oct. thing is enticing....... maybe a come back, but not promising anything. I still havent had the privledge having Marcus tap my out-of-shape ass out yet, so i have alot of training and cardio to do between now and Oct.

    Congrats tapout!

I have been training for the better part of 16 years and the last 9 only mma and submission wrestling. As a heavyweight myself, i can relate to the whole running outta gas thing. What have you done to increase you overall indurance? With my first MMA fight, the adrenaline really gassed me early, i could not relax all day and by my fight which was around 10p.m., i was basically gone. That fight really tought me alot about my conditioning and preperation for a match. Of course the best thing for you fighting indurance is to do just that, fight! All the time, with anyone who will roll with you, rotate partners, work the bag, jump rope, etc. Have you ever tried doing wind sprints or running stairs? That is allways a huge help for me along side mat work, a reasonable weight training, and stand up (boxing, muay thai) drills. If you are ever interested, i would be willing to help you get a good training routine together. Just shoot me an email. [email protected]...........
