Major Adverse Drug Reactions when using Testosterone Enanthate

Ok, well I see every so often, that a member posts a thread asking "Will taking Testosterone E or C interact with medication X that I take for condition Y." So, i will include in this thread the MAJOR drug interactions when taking Testosterone Enanthate or Cypionate . There are 235 Moderate reactions, but for now I will only post the severe/major ones.

The following drugs which are heart medications, have the following potential ADR with Testosterone treatment

    Anisindione
    Coumadin
    Dicumarol
    Jantoven
    Miradon
    Warfarin

MONITOR CLOSELY: Androgens and anabolic steroids may potentiate the hypoprothrombinemic response to oral anticoagulants and increase the risk of bleeding. The onset of interaction is generally observed within 2 to 3 days. The mechanism is unknown. There have been case reports of patients stabilized on oral anticoagulant therapy who developed bleeding complications following the addition of various androgenic agents including danazol, oxymetholone, testosterone, methyltestosterone , and stanozolol . In a clinical study (n=15), the concomitant administration of oxandrolone 10 to 20 mg per day increased the half-life of the more active S(-) enantiomer of warfarin from 26 to 48 hours and the systemic exposure (AUC) from 4.55 to 12.08 ng-hr/mL. R(-) warfarin half-life and AUC also increased. Microscopic hematuria and gingival bleeding were reported, and the warfarin dose had to be reduced by 80% to 85% to maintain the desired INR.

MANAGEMENT: During concomitant therapy, the INR and/or PT should be monitored closely and anticoagulant dosage adjusted accordingly, particularly following initiation, discontinuation or change of dosage of the androgenic agent in patients who are stabilized on their anticoagulation regimen. Significant anticoagulant dose reductions may be required. Some experts recommend avoiding this combination altogether. Patients should be advised to promptly report any signs of bleeding to their physician, including pain, swelling, headache, dizziness, weakness, prolonged bleeding from cuts, increased menstrual flow, vaginal bleeding, nosebleeds, bleeding of gums from brushing, unusual bleeding or bruising, red or brown urine, or red or black stools.

Adverse Drug Reactions with the administration of INSULIN

There are the following adverse drug reactions when using INSULIN .

    Gat***oxacin
    Tequin
    Tequin
    Teqpaq

CONTRAINDICATED: Gat***oxacin may interfere with the therapeutic effects of oral antidiabetic agents and insulin. The use of various quinolones has been associated with disturbances in blood glucose homeostasis possibly stemming from effects on pancreatic beta cell ATP-sensitive potassium channels that regulate insulin secretion. However, hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia have been reported more frequently with gat***oxacin than with other quinolones. Gat***oxacin-induced hypoglycemic episodes have generally occurred within the first 3 days of therapy and sometimes even after the first dose, while hyperglycemia usually occurred 4 to 10 days after initiation of therapy. Death has been reported in severe cases. Coadministration of gat***oxacin with sulfonylureas (most often glyburide) and/or other oral hypoglycemic agents has resulted in severe, refractory hypoglycemia and hypoglycemic coma. Elderly patients and patients with reduced renal function are particularly susceptible.

MANAGEMENT: The use of gat***oxacin is contraindicated in patients with diabetes mellitus. Other quinolones may be safer alternatives in such patients, although all quinolones should be used with caution. Blood glucose should be monitored closely whenever quinolones are prescribed to patients receiving oral antidiabetic agents and/or insulin, especially if they are elderly or have renal impairment. Patients should be counseled to recognize symptoms of hypoglycemia such as headache, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, tremor, weakness, hunger, excessive perspiration, and palpitations. If hypo- or hyperglycemia occur during quinolone therapy, patients should initiate appropriate remedial therapy immediately, discontinue the antibiotic, and contact their physician.

Major Adverse Drug reactions from administration of Nolvadex(Tamoxifen Citrate)

    MAJOR INTERACTIONS

    tamoxifen and mox***oxacin (Major Drug-Drug)

MONITOR CLOSELY: Certain quinolones, including gat***oxacin and mox***oxacin, may cause dose-related prolongation of the QT interval in some patients. Coadministration with other agents that can prolong the QT interval may result in elevated risk of ventricular arrhythmias, including ventricular tachycardia and torsade de pointes, because of additive arrhythmogenic potential related to their effects on cardiac conduction. During postmarketing surveillance, rare cases of torsade de pointes have been reported in patients taking gat***oxacin. These cases primarily involved patients with underlying medical conditions for which they were receiving concomitant medications known to prolong the QTc interval. Rare cases of tachycardia have been reported with mox***oxacin. In general, the risk of an individual agent or a combination of agents causing ventricular arrhythmia in association with QT prolongation is largely unpredictable but may be increased by certain underlying risk factors such as congenital long QT syndrome, cardiac disease, and electrolyte disturbances (e.g., hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia). In addition, the extent of drug-induced QT prolongation is dependent on the particular drug(s) involved and dosage(s) of the drug(s).

MANAGEMENT: Caution is recommended when gat***oxacin or mox***oxacin is administered concomitantly with drugs that prolong the QT interval, especially to patients with underlying risk factors. Since the magnitude of QTc prolongation increases with increasing plasma concentrations of the quinolone, recommended dosages and intravenous infusion rates should not be exceeded. Patients should be advised to seek medical attention if they experience symptoms that could indicate the occurrence of torsade de pointes such as dizziness, palpitations, or syncope.

    Moderate DRUG-FOOD INTERACTION
MONITOR: Grapefruit juice may increase the plasma concentrations of some orally administered drugs that are substrates of the CYP450 3A4 isoenzyme. The proposed mechanism is inhibition of CYP450 3A4-mediated first-pass metabolism in the gut wall by certain compounds present in grapefruits. The extent and clinical significance are unknown. Moreover, pharmacokinetic alterations associated with interactions involving grapefruit juice are often subject to a high degree of interpatient variability.

MANAGEMENT: Patients who regularly consume grapefruits and grapefruit juice should be monitored for adverse effects and altered plasma concentrations of drugs that are metabolized by CYP450 3A4. Grapefruits and grapefruit juice should be avoided if an interaction is suspected. Orange juice is not expected to interact with these drugs.

    Bump.

Surprising how many people utilize thyroid hormones with their Test. According to your post, that's not such a good idea! Why though?

    Thumbs up

Love the idea, but you could make it 100 times better if you wanted

List the drug by category's under the offending drug list (MAJOR INTERACTIONS, MODERATE DRUG INTERACTIONS and Moderate DRUG-FOOD INTERACTION)

    With the following layout

    Example

    MAJOR INTERACTIONS

    Thyroid hormones

    drug1, drug2, drug3 etc

    Blood thinners

    drug1, drug2, drug3 etc

    STATINS

    drug1, drug2, drug3 etc

    Anti-Histamines

    drug1, drug2, drug3 etc

    etc etc

That way people could find the medication they are taking with ease instead of having to trek through all the drug names

Which brings me on to my next point, you should have the drug chemical compound listed and the company names not just having the company brand name with forces people to Google to find out the chemical compound as not all the same brand names are marketed all over the world

Old post by theGodfather but worth a bump I think. It wouldn't be a bad sticky either, I have often wondered about some drug interactions.
