Deciding factor to why you choose to use AAS?

I would just like to know why you have choose to use AAS? I'm 23, been lifting off and on since I was 14. Built a physique that I'm quite proud of. Not against steroids but contemplating whether or not to use it. Has anyone contemplated as well, and if so why did you choose to use it? Even if you never contemplated it, what was the factor that made you decide to use AAS? Any regrets?

    Hey Tub,

I think everyone has contemplated at some point. The only regrets for me is cycling at a young age and damaging my endo system. But anyway, the second time around I was considerably older. Wanted to gain mass. But I didnt realize how important food was. Let me rephrase that... I had no idea that food is what determines gains, not gear. Once I learned how to eat, well... results were outstanding.

So in short, if I were to start over again, I would have waited till I was older and learned how to eat to grow first. Then I would consider cycling.

    Just my 2 cents.

Good to have you on board

Steroids are only useful to hard working, experienced individuals looking to take their physique even further. Before even contemplating cycling, make sure you have a foundation of proper dieting, adequate rest, and busting your ass in the gym day in and day out.

It is generally advisable to cycle 24-25 to ensure your HPTA has reached full maturation and established natural hormone balance and patterns. There isn't an exact age when we stop developing, that is determined by our genes and DNA.
Our testosterone levels raise during development and roughly peak around 25 years old and then start to slowly decline, so even though some of us may have stopped growing at the age of 21yrs old, others may still be developing up until the age of 25yrs old. Get your blood work done and see if you've peaked. Come back here if they have, if not, do the responsible thing and wait a few years.

Thanks for your input. Thought I was a hard gainer until I started to stuff my face. Definitely agree with you on that diet is key.

I was 27 and had played around w/weights for as long as i can remember(my dad still has a polaroid pic of me at 7 years old doing curls using his BB) but seriously since age 14 for football. And in H.S. we had to be in the weight room for off season conditioning if we wanted to play football. Baseball wasn't mandatory but it sure looked good if you were in there.
But i got to a point where i just wanted to take it to the next level. Thought i had hit my max and was basically spinning my wheels and was aggravated. I probably would have waited longer if i knew about diet like i do now. I wasn't completely in tune w/my body as far as dieting was concerned. But everything considered i have no regrets at all.

Like austinite said I didn't realize how important food was. I didn't gain anything like I could have on my first couple of cycles. No one even suspected me of being on steroids .

I also regret that I did to strong of cycles for to long and now I am on testosterone replacement for the rest of my life. I have serious doubts about being able to have kids. The doctor says they should be able to help but that still sucks.

I regret being stupid and not using alcohol to clean the injection site and ending up in the hospital with a major infection.

What I don't regret is having a site like this one to run all my ideas by and learning as much as I could.

Thanks a lot. I've read before about damaging your HPTA. That's one of the reason why I haven't decided yet. I think i have my routine and diet down, but can still grow some more naturally.

I got tired of feeling like I was spinning my wheels. Screwing around with every prohormone that came out! 35 years old and it was time to take thing to another level. I have yet to do a cycle that I havnt found ways to improve on. Diet, gym commitment, compounds. It's ever evolving!

I wanted a physique that was not possible to attain naturally. I didn't just want to be "lean and buff," I wanted to reach monstrous, freakish proportions. I'm still a ways off.

But, before I stared, I had spent two years building an impressive physique naturally. People always asked me if I competed (actually I first started using AAS before I ever thought I'd compete). I knew I had great genetics and that AAS would only enhance what I had already built, not give me something I had never worked for.

I see it as equal to cosmetic surgery: if you know what you want to look like, and know that it will never happen naturally, why not find the means to make the change in other ways?

Tried them at 28 after training for 14 years naturally, awful cycle got some fakes. Use them 10 years later to fix my body, heal it and get back into training after 10 years of back pain. I am also older 40 years old, and i want to keep on training i feel that steroids help me recuperate faster and make me look a lot better.

    Agreed 100%. . . . That's sums it all up.

I am happy I first ran my cycle post 30. The sides are no joke, it would not be worth it when I was young.

As far as regrets, I only wish I had done a little more research before I started, and I don't mean online, I mean getting to know someone who had used with my goals in mind and who could outline a basic cycle for me. First thing I ever used was Sustanon ...not because I knew anything about it, but because some guy was selling it and I didn't know where to get anything else. My first year of using was mainly just "buy whatever is available and take as much as I can." Now I actually try and find out what works with what...

I have all the sides you can possibly have but I don't regret that at all; I knew that for the extreme results I wanted, I would have to accept extreme consequences.

On HRT but what brought about the big difference was getting my diet and training in check. It is really the bigger commitment than the AAS. Diet and training are key!!!

I was always interested in them. I knew for me to compete at the highest international levels I would have to go to the next step. Honestly I wish I started younger. I was always strong and athletic, only could of imagined what I could of done younger instead of being natty...

I am an ectomorph and it was hard to gain weight so I cheated. Then I learnt how to eat properly but I'm keen to use it one more time so I can get to 100+ lean kg. Considering my natural weight is around 55-60 kg, that's about as far as I am willing to push it...

Austinite is spot on!!! More important than gear is nutrition. To use or not to use is a personal choice. There's a myriad of reasons/rationale/excuses in relation to it.

I started using gear because my balls were too large and all the days in the week end with Y.
