C9-T11 Fat Burner Reviewed: The Ultimate Abdominal Weight Loss Diet Pill?

The excitement surrounding the new C9-T11 abdominal fat burner is no greater felt than on the C9-T11 product web site. You can almost hear the narrator's voice -- breathless with excitement -- as you read...

"... after several years of research, scientists are now able to extract the active C9-T11 fat-burning isomers from the rare herb Carthamus tinctorius and concentrate them in a convenient capsule. Thanks to this process, thousands of men and women suffering from excess weight have a safe and natural weight-loss solution."

    Um... yeah.

See, "Carthamus tinctorius" is safflower. Safflower, commonly used for it oil, is hardly a "rare" herb.

And what of these active "C9-T11" isomers that show such miraculous fat burning characteristics?

Well, C9-T11 is an abbreviation of one of the isomers common to CLA, or conjugated linoleic acid. There are two isomers common to CLA. These are the "Cis-9, Trans 11" isomer and the "Trans 10, Cis-12" isomer, both of which are usually found in concentrations of 50-50 in most CLA preparations.

    And guess what?

Yep... the majority of manufacturers derive their CLA from safflower oil.

    Mystery solved.

The C9-T11 fat burner appears to be little more than CLA, re-labeled and marketed in a way that makes you think you're getting something ground breaking and r*********ary when you're actually buying an overpriced version of a weight loss product that has been on the market for years (the product web site does not make reference to any other ingredient(s), and all the clinical data refers to CLA).

Despite this silliness, CLA is a product worth investigating. The results of supplementation, however, do not accurately reflect any of the claims made on the C9-T11 web site -- you will not lose "5 inches of bellyfat" in mere weeks, for example.

    Nor can you...

"...eat more of your favorite foods without storing these stubborn calories as unwanted, unhealthy bodyfat."

In fact, one study (Am J Clin Nutr. 2006 Mar;83(3):606-12) concluded that...

"Conjugated linoleic acid supplementation for 1 year does not prevent weight or body fat regain."

And another (Am J Clin Nutr. 2007 May;85(5):1203-11) stated...

"Given at a dose of 3.2 g/d, CLA produces a modest loss in body fat in humans."

Nonetheless, evidence does indicate that CLA is a decent weight loss supplement (see Am J Clin Nutr. 2004 Jun;79(6):1118-25, Br J Nutr. 2007 Mar;97(3):550-60, Int J Obes (Lond). 2007 Mar;31(3):481-7. Epub 2006 Aug 22, Am J Clin Nutr. 2007 May;85(5):1203-11), although I've never ever heard from anyone who has experienced ground breaking results with it.

    Should you buy C9-T11?

Well, the product web site does not reveal the potency of the product (so it's impossible to determine just how much CLA you are getting per dose) and the cost -- compared to widely available CLA products -- is outrageous.
