do you mean the red box with the check in it ?? some are red, some are grey ?? if it's red, it means that thread has some new posts in it. hope that's what you're looking for
scroll down to the bottom of the main page and there is a legend there
scroll down to the bottom of any forum page and there is another legend there as well
