    Angry Holy Sh##, WTF!

I was supposed to start my Fina cycle yesterday, but I went to the Dr. because I have been experienceing hip pain. He got my x-ray results back and it looks like I have avascular necrosis (the same thing Bo Jackson had) and it looks like I am going to have to get total hip replacement. Holy shit! WTF, I thought only old people had this problem. He asked if I had ever taken AS and I told him I had. He said it was a great possibility that they may have been the cause. I don't know what to do. I am thinking about going ahead and doing my cycle any way, it can't get any worse. What would you guys do?

Holly shit bro! Sorry to hear that. But how can AS be the cause of it? Did u ask ur doctor? Bo Jackson's injury was from a dislocated hip. Did u ever hurt ur hip? IMO i wouldnt run it if ur going to have to have surgery. Good luck bro!

At the stage that my hip is at it sounds like surgery is the only alternative, so WTF I am going to go ahead and run my cycle. The ball in the socket has significant flattening and bone death.

I seriously question how that was caused by AS use

    CyCLEON....

Avascular necrosis is a disease resulting from the temporary or permanent loss of the blood supply to the bones. Without blood, the bone tissue dies and causes the bone to collapse. It usually affects people between 30 and 50 years of age. Corticosteroids such as prednisone are commonly used to treat diseases in which there is inflammation. Studies suggest that long-term, systemic (oral or intravenous) corticosteroid use is associated with 35 percent of all cases of nontraumatic avascular necrosis. However, there is no known risk of avascular necrosis associated with the limited use of steroids . Doctors aren't sure exactly why the use of corticosteroids sometimes leads to avascular necrosis. They may interfere with the body's ability to break down fatty substances. These substances then build up in and clog the blood vessels, causing them to narrow. This reduces the amount of blood that gets to the bone. Some studies suggest that corticosteroid-related avascular necrosis is more severe and more likely to affect both hips (when occurring in the hip) than avascular necrosis resulting from other causes.

Bro...what would have made the doc ask you about AS? Perhaps, if you have a lot of muscle development the Doc may have assumed you are taking AS. If that is the case perhaps his ignorance about AS may have prompted him to say that??? As you you most people believe that AS usage leads to poor health and long term body break down. Him being a Doc and being concerned about your health in general is why he said that?....I agreed with OG...if you are going to go under the knife..it is best to be off your cycle and clean.

BIG D....dude that really sucks, but I have seen many people recover successfully with a THR. You will go through some PT training, but overall, you can live a normal life. I don't think it would be wise to use gear though. you'll probably on blood thinners and roids can cause you to poor healing...not a good combo. If you ever need any advise, let us know bro, we're here for you

The Dr. didn't say that the AS were the cause but could possibly be. I believe it is from an old college football injury, severe trauma can also be a cause, and that injury was some pretty severe trauma. I don't know, I am really scared and may be jumping to conclusions because there still needs to be some research done by the Dr.'s, however, it looks like some sort of surgery is inevitable, whether it be core displacement, bone grafting or THR.

Corticosteroids are not Anabolic Steroids . I don't see a relationship between the two problems but it sucks that this happened to you. I wish you the best of luck.

From what I understand, even if I do have to get the THR, I can recover 100% like new.

Before I started taking AS, I spoke to my doc.

Told her that I was going to start taking AS, and that I'd like to have some bloodwork done and discuss with her possible side effects and ways to minimize them.

One of the possible side effects she mentioned sounds exactly like what Big D is suffereing from. Basicly she said something about the blockage of the blood vessel that supplies blood to the hip. However I believe she said It would cause my bones to become weak and I could easily "break" my hip.

I believe he already told the doctor he was/is taking AS, and that the doc has told him it will only get worse.

It will get worse and it can turn into arthritis or the bone can actually deteriorate until it breaks off, then I will definitely have som serious problems. And why would I want to tell him I am taking andro?

I know some of you vets are saying that they don't see how it can be related to AS, but what if it is? How is it related? Does it only occure if you take really really high doses? Is it from prolonged usage? Steroid abuse ? Or is it just a matter of being one of those 1 in a 1000 cases?

Big "D" how has your steroid history been like?

    Thnx,
    T.

I have done approximately 11 cycles over the past 5 years, never really high dosages though. At the most 500 mg test wk, lots of winny, lots of primobolin, and lots of d-bol.

    Bro,

If I was in your shoes I would get a second opinion. It may be a bit time consuming but it sure won't hurt. If the new Doc agrees with the diagnosis and prognosis then you'll know.

What I do know is that these Orthopedic Doc's live in a different world from other specialists. They are the Testosterone crowd of the med community. They like 'dem bones!

Yeah, I would like to emphasize was Rickson said about the Corticosteroid post by tichel. Corticosteroids are not Anabolic Steroids. They are quite the opposite...

Tell ya what, for your next cycle run this:

    Weeks 1-12: 60mg Prenisone ED

    Then come post your results.

To give you a heads up - you'll lose a lot of muscle, increase bodyfat with increased hunger... and Cortisol levels will be off the charts (not Testosterone ). But you're joints will feel great!

They couldn't have the same long term side effects because Cortisol is catabolic while Testosterone is anabolic - two opposite worlds.

I went for my follow up yesterday and the Doc says he wants to operate. He wants to do bone decompression, that is where he drills a hole into the bone and all of the healthy cells that come out of the are that is drill is shoved up into the dead area. He says that it is only 70% effective in these cases. I told him I wanted a second opinion, and he encouraged it. Although when looking at the MRI, even I could see the dead areas in my femoral head and the flattening of one side. It looks inevitable, but who knows. If I do have it done it won't be until June because I have the summers off and it will give me time to recouperate.
