Why are steroids bad for overweight people.
I have read several threads on here that stated that overweight people shouldn't use steroids because of increased likelihood of certain side effects. I would like to know why an overweight person would be more likely to develop gyno or high blood pressure than someone with low body fat. I haven't seen any links to any studies in any of the other threads so I was wondering if this is opinion based on anecdotal evidence or is there science to back it up? Does the increased likelihood of gyno and high bp only apply to sedentary people or would someone who works out and does cardio everyday still be at increased risk?

I would just say if your overweight you most likey lack discipline in your eating and working out habits to even consider using anything besides diet diet diet.

Both replies are correct lol.
Higher risk of gyno and bp issues..
Lack of discipline to begin with...

I agree, these people should be more concerned about the hamburger and fries they eat than ever thinking about taking steroids . They are not magic beans that turn you into Arny over night.

Thank you guys for the replies. What I am really trying to find out is what specifically causes higher risk of gyno and high bp (what enzymes)? I have tried to find this info on the web and on here but I can't find any emperical data on the subject. I do understand that the general opinion of the members of the board is that it is a bad idea for overweight people to use steroids . I certainly don't disagree with that, I'm just trying to learn a little more about it. Obviously I am asking because I do have a high bf% and I do have some interest in using steroids at some point down the road. I would like to add that I don't eat like I did when I got fat and have been hitting the gym pretty hard. I am 5' 11" tall and 240 lbs, I was 290 when I started working out and watching my diet. I do about 30-45 min of cardio a day and lift weights 5 days a week. I'm basically trying to figure out when it will be safe for me to change my focus more towards building muscle as opposed to just burning fat.

I agree ^ loose more fat than focus on muscle gain... Not to be rude but its kinda like the huge fat guy using the AB machine... just doesn't make sense your fat wont let u see the muscles in your abs. I wouldn't stop lifting weights because wieght training helps loose fat faster. Maybe do more like 2 hr cardio earlier morning, lift wieghts at night, as the coorelation between steroids and gyno and HP.
Steroids are categorized as Lipids same category as cholesterol and sex hormones. Lipids main purpose to energy storage and cell membrane development. Thats all i can remember from my BIO class but if you put 2 and 2 together you would see that not having a healthy diet and adding more lipids(fats) to your system could potentially cause more harm than good. Hope that helps.

It is almost the same for anything!! when you are moderately overweight there is no reason to take and put undo stress on your heart lungs etc... They are already overworked because of the extra fat and higher weight. It would be almost the same as a really heavy person trying to run a marathon, I am sure there are many that can do it, but it would probably take a tol on your knees and other things because of the extra weight

op, if youve lost 50 lbs, you have your diet dialed in
imo, adding some test will help enable you to get leaner without losing more muscle, just add an AI
ive always held a little bodyfat at 230-240, and every cycle i have leaned up(even though i gained weight(water, muscle)
3 weeks into this cycle, my waist is down, ass and quads are starting to fill out my pants
either way, good job on the body transformation

I guess this community is largely bodybuilder based. There are alot of top powerlifters that use steroids and are not lean.

New guy here looking to inquire about the best time start their first cycle?
What would be suggested for someone who is not at optimal fitness, but has been active and training without much results. (5"8, 167lbs, 16% body fat) Have been able to maintain weight for the last 5 years. Diet (consuming 1800 cal 150g of portein daily) (Exercise 4 times a week for 1 hour 30 min.) Able to compete in mud obstacle events that are 12 miles long. Not looking at bulking up, just the ripped look. What steroids are recommended and what cycle would be recommended?

If its empirical you want, go to PubMed and conduct a search of the published medical literature. There you will find links between AAS and atrial fibrillation, hypertension, gynecomastia , effects on cardiac mass and blood CK, cardio toxicity, and more. The general Internet is NOT your best source of empirical data. It's unfiltered opinion. Forums such as this offer anecdotal experiences, but if you want controlled, peer reviewed data, you need to look in the right place.
You've heard a lot of great comments on this thread, perhaps the most important is that AAS use needs to be part of a disciplined program of diet and exercise! No matter how healthy you are (or are not), AASs WILL affect your cardiac and lipid panels. It's unavoidable but manageable IF you are dedicated and disciplined enough.
Those people looking for a quick path to better health and fitness need to understand there is NO quick path.
I hope your PubMed search provides you with the answers you seek and take heed to the advice given here among the membership.
I hope you discover the better health you seek!

Here's the main reason. Fat people are fat because they eat like shit. They probably drink too. Their bodies are already unhealthy and their blood work is likely a mess. Until the fat person gets into a routine where he or she has their diet in check and is working out regularly AAS should not be an option. Too many people rely on the drug and change nothing else.

fat just makes you fatter when you cycle. and with that comes the health issues common with any fatty.
