Almost passed out during injection today.

So I did my third shot of test-c today and I had to pin three times!!!! My first pin I broke the skin (thigh) and started to push the needle down and got about half way and felt a real bad sting so it kinda freaked me out and I pulled out and moved the injection site over abit and on the second attempt I pushed the needle in and could fell the needle ripping though the muscle (I think this is why I almost passed out) so I put the needle(25g 1.5 inch) all the way in and pulled on the plunger and got a couple of tiny air bubbles so I started injecting and got half way down when I got light headed and started to get cold sweats so I tried to hurry up but I started to see black so I pulled the needle out and laid down for a min. felt better after about 2 mins. and injected for the third time and the part that I think makes me fell sick is felling the needle go through the muscle.

3 injections damn I should have did prop.

Confused. You are freaking out about injecting and say you should have done prop? Would you wanna go thro this everyday? Or twice a week?

Are you one of those people that push it in really slooowwwllyy? I'm not sure how most people do it, but I push it in fairly quick, once it's going in there's no turning back! Try doing glutes, they are easier.

No I'm saying the reason I did test-c is because of less injections. I was saying damn I should have did prop because I just did 3 injections in one day.

Nothing wrong with going slow. I use to go fast but found for me if you go slow anytime I start to feel a sting of any kind I stop for a second then continue and so far I have had no pain. It's virtually as if I cant even feel anything.

Always make sure you drink something before you inject like orange juice. Your blood sugar may have been low. I almost did that once, I got dizzy but made it through. I read someone elses suggestion about drinking orange juice or ??? before injecting and it helped.

Its just anxiety and adrenaline. make sure if your doing your glute, your leg is on the point of ur toes behind you so the muscle is relaxed. Also if you go in at all with the needle make sure u change needles because after you go in, the needle is contaminated.

Bro you might be onto something. I did my injection as soon as I woke up and had not ate or drank anything since dinner the night before.

I dont have it handy but theres a thread where this guy tells you all these tips of how to get over your injection fear. The biggest one for me was to sing a song while Im doing it. I started out singing the scooby doo theme song but these days I will sing whatever pops in my head or put an mp3 on of something I know the words to.

I had the faintness when I first started. Trying relaxing / breathing

As far as sterility goes, if you swabbed its probably okay but if you do anything with the needle and need to do something else, you need another needle. That includes changing spots cause one didn't work out and after drawing it into the barrel.

When I pin i hold the syringe like a dart then stick it fast as if i were putting it in a dart board. Very minimal pain that way. My first one though I had to take a shot of vodka before injecting so my hands would stop shaking. The nerves get better.

I do the same thing. My ex was a nurse and first time she saw me pinning really slow pushing the pin in she was like WTF are you doing? She claimed that you jab it in like a dart to keep it from hurting. Once I got more comfortable doing it a few times it was no sweat.

I do think that anxiety comes from being new to injecting yourself and it will pass over time. Try once to jab it in quick and see how much more painless it feels. When you think about it doctors dont slowly push a pin in they jab it quick! They are pros! They do it that away for a reason!

Yes, iv read "Just to be safe" change the needle. There was a post on here specifically about that. I remember there being a picture showing of a guy who got an infection, "abscess" which had to be surgically removed. The pictures where horrific. But yeah by all means you'll probably be fine. But like i said .10 cents for a new needle is a better price than going through all of that.

Ha wow, I effin LOVE these particular posts on here. Damn they make me laugh so hard. I love tellin my buds the stories I read on here about dudes passing out or even worse breaking needles off or other newb stuff. "Uh hey guys, so I injected for the first time and passed out and broke the needle off in my thigh, I also hit my face on the sink when I fell and cut a hole in my lip and I think a couple of my teeth are lose, I'm stemming the blood flow right now, what should I do?" Umm, turn the computer off and go to the ER? lol

I dunno, my brother's a combat medic and he's seen some terrible stuff and I've been injured so many times in my life that getting stuck with a needle seems one step down from a tickle fight or something.. or maybe better cause if you tickle me too hard I'll pee and that's worse than anything thats happened when I've injected. I guess I can't relate cause I never had these issues when I started pinning.

I read a post once where another newb suggested singing a song to take their mind off of the injection and I told my brother. He laughed and right off the cuff suggested:

"I'm a little tea pot short and stout, here comes the needle and I'm passin out."

G Damn I thought I was gonna pass out.

Just out of curiosity to the OP (and no offence about my previous post there, I hope you'll laugh at it some day too), were you injecting in your thigh? It seems that most of these stories happen with thigh injections and I would love to see some stats on this forum of the people who have passed out or almost passed out, where did they inject?

All these stories come from first-timer injections.

I freaking LOVE injecting myself. But if you are the type of person that can't take shots and you seem to have panic attacks and/or get light headed and pass out, one trick that works is to suck on a candy shortly before or while you are doing your injection.

And don't think about it so much.

    I like them too.

I dont know how the hell you can almost pass out from an injection, its not going to kill you.

I also go slow and always have. If you hit a nerve when injecting "like a dart" its seriously going to f*cking hurt. Be safe, be slow and inject slow too.

I've almost passed out giving myself an injection. My other two friends who use, 1 has the problem the other does not. Seems to be person based and what works for me is to breathe deep and slow cause it helps relax me.

My symptoms are I start sweating and breathing fast, almost like a panic attack. I don't think it makes you a newb if you have the problem either as someone else eluded to.

    Is "Squeamish" the word?

Yeah, you know what freaks me out? The thought of a needle hitting the bone. Just the idea if it tapping a bone, and imagining what kind of pain that would bring. Or a needle breaking off inside if moving a muscle. Like hitting the bone and moving real quick because you spaz.
Could you imagine if that would happen?

Just little paranoid everyday thoughts are healthy. They keep you from doing stupid things.

Just throwing these out there. lol I humor myself. (EEeeeK!)

You wouldnt even feel it if you tapped the bone dude. Think about it this way, ever play football in high school? ever get stepped on with cleats on your knuckles so you could see 'em? did it hurt to touch em? no. just where the skin was ripped. the nerves run mainly through the bones so you have to puncture one or break one for it to hurt. Tapping one is like tapping your tooth.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone with a little experience wanna fess to this problem early on and tell us how long it took for it to go away? It has to go away right? I mean don't tell me that there are professionals out there sweating their daily injections.

Like being a porn star and still getting ED from nervousness at a shoot right? While I'm at it, if there any pornstars on this site I'd like to know if that still happens too... lol

It dosent hurt when you hit bone. I had a swollen elbow and I drained it with a 18g pin and hit bone. Anyway back on subject, I inject slowly, once you brake the outer layer of skin it dosent hurt anymore. Ive done hundreds and hundreds of injections and only had to repin a couple times because of blood when I aspirated. Youll get it down.

I hear you. I had a serious knee injury, and had my knee "tapped".
The needle was an 18gauge. I don't dare to say it was larger than 18gauge, because I wasn't too happy about it and I don't want to blow it out of proportion. The needle was massive.
It didn't hurt while moving through my joint getting out all the fluid.
The initial penetration was not to my liking. The doc put nitrogen on my knee first. Very cold.

    Good times
