    Metabolism and Test Levels?

how much would ones test level effect their metabolism? would someone with low test levels have a slower metabolism, than someone with normal test levels? and does the addition of test, either from HRT or during a cycle, speed up the metabolism of someone with naturally low test levels? Any help would be greatly apperciated.

I'll take a stab at this...

Indirectly, yes - testosterone levels effect metabolism. However directly testosterone does not have an effect on fat mass - on the contrary it could poromote it (probably due to estrogen conversion for the most part). BUT - testosterone does increase fat-free mass, muscle size, strength and power, fat mass, hemoglobin, HDL cholesterol, and IGF-I levels - which will increase your overall metabolism. Read this AJP abstract from the American Journal of Physiology Endocrinology and Metabolism.

Here is a direct link that searches abstracts on metabolism and testosterone.
