Problem with dosage measurement
Hey fellow trainers!
I think i'm making a huuge rookie mistake and want to clear it out before it goes to far.
When i inject 1ml, the little black thingy in the tube (syringe). Should i stop at 1ml picture 1 or 2? (see picture)
I'm currently going for picture 2
I am an amazing artist so i hope you guys and girls understand the picture

Yes for sure pic 2. If you look at the end of the syringe it's shaped like the end of the rubber in order to cleanly wipe the syringe walls and expel all fluid. So if you go with pic 2 you will be getting a true dose of 1 ml

Bro, that looks like a 16 gauge. You do not want to inject with that.

Pic 2. But personally I go a fraction of a hair further. Juust to make sure I am getting the full dose. It seems the plunger (black thingy) has a little point to it.

lol. Fark! Ok so assuming a 23g needle, wiki says the outside diameter is 0.02525 inches (actually not relevant), and the inner is 0.01325 inches. Length is 1" although not quite because of the shaved off end but whatever,we'll assume it's a damn perfect tube...
That's 0.00595 CC. (used an online calculator, sorry basketballfan22)
So if we're pinning 250mg/ML, that would equal 1.4875 mg's.
Who knows, I could have it all wrong, lol.~ PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SOURCE CHECKS ~

Lmao. Well I didn't get the same answer. We are dealing with a cylinder, so V = πr^2h, where V = volume, π = pi, r = radius, and h = height. Therefore assuming the dimensions provided are correct, we have
V = π(0.01325/2)^2(1) ≈ 0.0001379 in^3.
Converting this to cm^3, we get
(0.0001379 in^3)(2.54 cm/1 in)(2.54 cm/1 in)(2.54 cm/1 in) ≈ 0.00226 cm^3 or 0.00226 cc.
Therefore at a dose of 250 mg/mL, we have
0.00226 cc = 0.00226 mL, and (0.00226 mL)(250 mg /1 mL) ≈ 0.5649 mg.
*Note, I saved the full decimal versions throughout the calculations; so the end result may not agree completely with what I typed, e.g. (0.00226)(250) = 0.565, not 0.5649.*Last edited by basketballfan22; 06-05-2013 at 12:23 AM.

lmao! Ok then, there you have it. insignificant volume. Unless you tally up years of that...
