i had an inflammed joint in one of the metatarsals (in my foot) i couldn't land properly on that foot w/o pain. doc gave me some vioxx and it helped me feel normal walking again almost immediately. 2 days. didn't feel like a narcotic. don't have any withdrawal symptoms and that was a year ago and haven't used it since.

    Here's some info... http://content.health.msn.com/conten..._2169?bn=Vioxx

My wrist hurts like hell right now but I started taking Vioxx yesterday. Had some left over from a previous injury. Hopefully it helps some!

It's not a narcotic. It is a cox-2 inhibitor. It inhibits prostaglandins just like the NSAID's, but is specific for the cyclo-oxygenase (cox-2) and at therapeutic levels, does not inhibit the cox-1 enzyme. NSAID's inhibit both cox-1 and cox-2 enzymes. The cox-1 inhibition leads to the problems you wee with NSAID's- GI ulceration, platelet aggregation and decreased renal blood flow. So by using a cox-2 specific inhibitor, you get equal anti-inflammatory effects w/o inhibiting the prostaglandin system in the kidneys , GI tract and platelets and are spared these side effects. If you can afford them, they would be ideal for inflammation vs. conventional NSAID's.

Yeah I just recently was scribed Vioxx. That shit gets rid of inflammation and pain pronto! But I nearly shit my pants when I read the packet insert. This shit has major potential side effects. Teach me to read that crap.

I've been on vioxx for a little over a month now and I think it works well. I haven't noticed any sides at all. To tell the truth the only thing I can tell is I'm a little more flexable in my back, I have a very bad back and squats tend to agrivate it now and again.

Ichabodcrane's dead on from what I've read up on it.

Actually Vioxx is supposed to be easier on the digestive track than ibuprofen.

Vioxx is definitely easier on the digestive tract than ibuprofen. At least that has been my experience.

this should probably be a new thread ju, but i used glucosamine for a few months and it worked well, except that my joints feel swollen all the time. i have a physical therapist friend that gives it to her patients all the time. she swears by it.
