Shoulder Problems

Was hoping you guys might be able to help me with a problem I am having, . I did somthing to my shoulder about 2 years lifting somthing awkwardly, originally it didn't seem like such a problem, and i let it go, over time when training shoulders particularly i used to get bad pain behind my right trap for days after workouts. Over time this has got alot worse, not only am i weaker than I was back in high school now (not that I am all that old anyhow but ), but the size difference between the two traps is now becoming beyond a joke.

I dont train shoulders at all currently as I am so scared of worsening the problem, Basically my left shoulder you can see the muscle line run diaginally from my neck to my shoulder like it should, where the right just caves in as it runs from my neck to my shoulder. I have tried going to physio's twice, and they always just told me to stop training for a while and then begin some light exercises, but the ploblem always returned. The pain now comes even after I do chest, back or arm workouts, and also hurts at the back of my ribcage (you know that chicken bone part? )...

What do you guys think i can do to try and fix the problem??

This BB i know reckons that by reducing to light weights and taking vitamin C I should be able to work through the problem, and that it may just be scar tissue built up?and that the light training and vitamin C will break this done... Think he is right or am i too late to save?

It sounds like you might have pinched a nerve way back when you originally injured yourself and never allowed it to fully heal. While I'm not exactly sure what permanent damage this could cause, I would see a specialist regarding the issue (and perhaps lay off the lifting until you do if you are still experiencing general pain). Just my 2 cents

my dad has got the same problem, he is i think 47 now...and has quit liften cuz it hurts so bad...why not check into acupuncture or something..just a thought

Whilst doing back at the gym yesterday i decided to go and try what my mate had told me, and just do a few sets of dumbells presses with practically no weight, it felt a little bit sore, and still does now, but definalty nothing like it is generally, so dunno if that is a good sign or what...

You guys do have me pretty scared now though :( . as I am only 20, so certainly dont want to be stuck with this problem forever...

Definitely sounds like a pinched nerve. The more you move with your workout the more you aggrivate it. Chiros or even a massuage therapist might help. More intensive would be MRI.

A massage therapist can work wonders for you, if he or she is a good one. If its a problem with the muscle, they will be able to tell you right away what is wrong with it. If they don't know whats wrong, then start thinking pinched nerve. I'm no expert, but ive had lots of shoulder problems myself (being 6'5" at 16 years old) and my massage therapist has helped me a lot.
