Training Fasted When trying to Bulk ?
Alright I lift at 6am or when ever I get up I tried training with meals and without meals lifts are not effected at all , my ex trainer my supplier massive guy swears by training fasted , if there any real advantage you've noticed training fasted vs fed for gaining muscle?
there research saying how training fasted boosts this and that but also other research saying training fasted it stupid , just wondering if I should contunie to train fasted or maybe get a meal in or move to nights for maximum results

Theres probably no set answer
Experiment, try 6 weeks fasted training vs 6 weeks training after food
I feel lethargic training fasted and i think my workouts are clearly effected
Try both and see what you prefer, if your looking to bulk id eat before and after the workout, if your looking to cut quite quickly try the fasted route if you feel your workouts arent effected then thats a good sign to atleast warrant giving it a shot

Personal preference for me is to have a big meal before working out. Can't stand being hunary and lifting.
I'm not sure witch one science has proven to work best but I could not amagine fasted and lifting is going to gain mass better then eating at a surplus and training

Imo if you're bulking then there shouldn't be any point in the day when you're fasted.
The only time I train fasted is when doing morning cardio on a cut.

If you have tried both for months and years and cant see a difference, and the training fasted suits your daily shedule (you mention waking up and literaly go to the gym, then stick at it) or train a bit later and find a different job where you start work a bit later
Or set your alarm through the night, have a meal then go to bed for a couple of hours then train, i couldnt eat through the night then sleep, but it works for plenty of others
You have to balance other aspects of your lifestyle though, gym and gains are our priority, but working and paying the bills is also up there
If you cant eat before training due to lack of digesting time, then its adjust your daily schedule or eat through the nightLast edited by TheTaxMan; 10-24-2016 at 04:00 PM.

The fasted training concept came about from models. It's a temporary effect. The reason model shoots are early in the morning is because that's when you're the leanest throughout the day. And training "fasted" keeps them lean and brings out the abs and veins, if you will.
Your body does not burn calories or builds muscle any faster or slower if you had food in your stomach or not. Assuming the same level of activity in both scenarios, of course.~ PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR SOURCE CHECKS ~

Yeah im trying to be more laid back ... cause I have a gf now and need to be less strict even though she respects what I do but im at the point where daily macros mater more then one meal pre workout , I don't see how training fasted can eat muscle when you takes a pre workout bcaas than a meal right after ground oats whey and casein

My normal day would be wake up around 7am eat 6 eggs with salsa, 2 pieces of bread. Eat again at 8am 1 or 2 cups oats with something mixed inside it and some bananas or fruit. Then be at the gym before 10am.
This varies because of diet reasons and work hours but thatshe the basic meals before gym.

If you eat at all, bcaa's included you are not training fasted. BCAA's actually cause an insulin response the same a sugars will.

Agree with Numbere if your not cutting no reason to be lifting in a fasted state unless your implementing intermittent fasting... have you tried intermittent fasting?? I've also had a trainer do an experiment on losing muscle or strength while doing this and in his experience he actually set a few PRs
Say you eat until 8pm - you can not eat until 12pm the next day(id obviously be timing my meals accordingly to my lifting & cardio Sessions)... the thing many people fail at doing is eating enough in that 8hr period - feast! Just a thought

Yes I've done IF and I've also done 1 meal per day for months on end I've tried everything , think honestly my best results where carb back loading , fat pro meals workout at night slam carbs back I was lean 4% BF but wasn't bulked ,
I think you guys are right , maybe move my workouts to 5pm and eat like this
8-9am breakfast
12 lunch
3pm Whey oats
5-6pm train
6pm pwo shake
7pm dinner
10pm bed meal

OP, that 3pm shake should not be there. If eating a meal is not practical then at least add peanut butter. All my shakes currently have 1 cup egg whites, 1 scoop protein, 1 cup oats and 1 tbsp peanut butter cause Im on a bulk and eating a full meal every 2.5 hours just doesn't work into my schedule.
Dallas mccarver trains smaller muscle groups fasted and bigger muscle groups later in the day. I think it was abs calves traps and delts which he did fasted if I'm not mistaken.

Due to my work schedule I have had to change my workouts to early morning, 4am-5:30am. and I do a fasted workout. Soon as I get out of the gym I'm chugging oats, whey, eggs, etc.

My body always says FOOD! I do not get a good workout if I don't have food. I burn out quick..plus the duration is depleted due lack of energy..
