    "Gyno" before juicing!

Ok, I've got a neighbor down the street who wants to start working out. He's not very fat, but not real muscular -- much like an average 38 year old male.

His pecs look somewhat cone-shaped (little bit of jiggle - I couldn't/didn't want to look much). I've read that in aging men that they can begin to retain breast fat - due in part to decreased testosterone and increased estrogen.

I know you don't have much to go on, but in theory...do you suppose this will go away as he reduces fat and gains muscle? Or, do you think he is in the same shape as someone with gyno from juicing. In other words, if this is caused by the increase in estrogen...does it mean that he needs surgery (IMO not likely). I'm thinking that the increase in estrogen can just cause the fat to accumulate, not necessarily 'female-like' breast tissue.

I see so many pics on the net of supposed gyno, that I am unsure it if is at times. Though I'm sure the juicer with symptoms is well-aware. I understand the burning...but not sure about the appearance matters - as fat that is being raised by new muscle growth can look cone-like. Is it just the actual nipple (darker area) that is supposed to be puffy with gyno. I plan to read more on this -- most of the scientific data that I have does not get into practical matters (photos, et cetera), rather just the hormonal science...

I told him what I thought, but said I'd get some more opinions for him. What are your thoughts on this? Hopefully he doesn't lift his shirt again

From what I've seen, in cases like his you can reduce most of the swelling by losing fat. Part of it, for some people, is that they start storing more fat there as well. The best thing to do is to cut down and see where he's at...no sense running off to surgery if you don't know for sure. If he is able to improve his body through diet and hard work, then he'll see where he's truly at. If he still and truly has gyno, he could go see a specialist then...think of it as a reward for his hard work...sort of the finishing touches on his masterpiece of a body that he's built...

    good luck to him

Yeah, I don't think he was even thinking about surgery. I think it is just fat, but it sure has more of a defined appearance of gyno in comparison to any photos I've seen posted here at AR (with the except of the thread from the gyno clinic - damn, I thought I had that out of my head).
