How many you tell your doc you use.

If you do tell your doctor is it confidential or can the insurance companies find out. then the cops. How safe is it to tell your doc in U.S. I also know someone who told specialist he used steriods and his natty test was very low so doctor prescribed him some replacement therapy... upjohn cypionate . How risky is it now.

NO....we cannot tell your insurance company if your taking anabolics or any illegal narcotics.

The only way anyone would find out is if our records were subponeod. To be honest if I know a patient is using anything i do not record it in their medical file. We are only liable for prescription medications. So dont worry about your doctor, he may give you a look but he cant tell.

My doctor has a confidentiality clause he has his staff and his patients sign which states he and his staff will not disclose any information I give him

so yes my GP does know, he uses as well so it's easy to discuss these things w/ him

my doc is not for it but i tell him what and when i am on. he never records anything he just shakes his head, he is actually a super cool guy. we have alot of laughs when ever i go there. he loves my stories. when your comfortable with your doctor it makes it easier to tell him stuff like that, and you get a more realistic answer, instead of some standard text book jargon.

I get monitered by my doc with tri-weekly bio-chem profiles so yes, she knows.

I was under the assumption that charted use can be varified by Ins. companies though

No...charted blood tests do not tell the insurance anything. There are several reasons to order a lipid panel, a liver enzyme panel,or a basic CBC. These tests are used to monitor everything from liver disease to basic flu like infections. So unless your doc is ordering a test to check testosterone levels on a weekly basis then dont worry.

Further more, the insurance company will not say anything to you about your doc ordering weekly blood work, they will just start rejecting the claim as unsubstantiated. So you as a patient have nothing to worry about on that front.

A little FYI, if you have to pay for your own blood work (which is smart if your worried about your insurance) you should never pay more than $15-$30 for a cbc, with a liver and lipid panel. These are the only 3 tests you need to check yourself.

I don't know if it's varied from lab to lab, but any CBC I've seen includes SGOT and SGPT, but not GGT wich is the most important liver enzyme to check in a bodybuilder so that would need to be suplemented. CBC also doesn't include a Testosterone level.

I wasn't speaking about charted blood work, I was speaking about charted AS use. i know any medication I am on is charted(paxil, minocin, vicodin, etc.)

You are correct...a CBC doesnt include all you need. Thats why you would have a seperate lipid panel and a seperate liver panel. Then your covered on all fronts.
