Information on cholesterol

Hi Guys,
Back in December i had some bloodwork done just to check on liver cout,triglycerides,cholesterol etc. My cholesterol cout was high at 216,am tring to lower it through diet ie no red meat, no fat,(or as little as possible) mainly chicken,tuna,tturkey,and fruit,veggies. My question is its getting close to time for my next cycle of test depot ...will it lower my HDL (good) cholesterol? and if so so can i work around it.
