Net Carbs vs Carbs? What the deal here?

Hey bros,

I have quick diet question, i know this shouldn't be in this fourm, but it takes forever to get an answer in the other fourms. So i'll be quick.

My girlfriend is on a keto diet, she keeps her carb count under 20g a day. She has keto stix to test if she is in ketosis. Now what she wants to know is she sees all these Bars promoting NET CARBS.

for example:

a bar will say 2.5 net carbs on front advertised, but on the back for carbohydrates is says 18g.

Now i know you can subtract fiber from Carbs to get net carbs, but i konw dam well that their ain't 16g of fiber in one of those bars. I was always told CARBS are CARBS.

What is the deal with this net carb advertisement?
And should she go with the Total Carbs and forget the deal with the NET CARBS?

We are going to Maimi March 10th, she has a go-see/photoshoot with this model agency in Maimi, so she is tryin to look her best. She had a little picture in Seventeen magazine last month, so i'm proud of her and am trying to keep her on this keto diet.

I thought PMS was bad, try having a chick around going into keto.... 10x worse!

they count sugar alcohols as carbs but not as sugars. example sucralose (Splenda)

they deem glycerin, which is technically a carbohydrate, as not part of the "net carbs".

almost all low carb bars use glycerin.

part of the total is also probably sorbitol and/or some other sweetners

so should she go by net carbs? or the total carbs on back?
