Megace as Appetite Enhancer
Hey everyone, I've been reading a lot online about the drug Megace, (Magestrol Acetate) and it seems that it can be used to increase appetite. I am 5'9, around 160 currently, but my appetite sucks. I get decent nutrition, but I am not usually too hungry which makes me miss out on extra meals that I should be eating for optimal muscle growth. My physician will not prescribe it to me no matter how often I ask, because he says there are side effects that makes it not worth the risk. I'm wondering if this Medicine is relatively safe and if it does in fact significantly increase appetite. If it seems to be worth obtaining, I will try to find a nutritionist or another physician that who will prescribe it to me. If not, I won't bother. Anyone with any info on this or other appetite stimulants, please share your opinion. Thanks a million as usual!!

I have heard a lot of good things about vitamin b12 on this website, although I haven't tried it myself. Actually, I just purchased some about 15 min ago online. Do some searching about it. I'm very excited to try it out. I have the exact same appetite problems. Only I weigh even less than you!

I haven't tried Megace, but I've used a similar drug for appetite stimulation called Periactin (Cyproheptadine hydrochloride.) The first few times I used it, yes it enhanced my appetite, but it also made me incredibly sleepy--within about an hour or so I could barely keep my eyes open. And I would fall asleep and wake up several hours later. After the first few times, however, the sleepiness disappeared and it still enhanced my appetite tremendously. You do need an Rx for it, but I got it online somewhere (don't remember where) without one. Look around. It usually comes in 4mg tabs (x100), taken 2-4 times daily.

Cheefin a little bit always seems to help me. In moderation, according to your doc there is probably less sides in the herb than in Megace. Just my 2 cents
