Cheating on your diet once a week

I usually have on meal a week that is bad for me. I meen like a pizza or wings, Mcdonalds or something. Will this effect me negativeley if my diet it good the rest of the week?

This is actually a very good thing for you. I limit myself to 1 meal a week myself. I find that this stops me from bingeing(sp) and also helps fill me out a bit. You will also find that this will help you to continue to make progress in your diet.

If your current goal is to cut bodyfat, definitely limit yourself to 1 cheat meal a week where you can eat whatever you want.

If your goals are to bulk up and add muscle, cheating several times a week isn't gonna hurt you. When I'm bulking, I still maintain a strict diet of clean foods, but I will cheat a little 3-4 days out of the week.

I agree and disagree. I would say you can cheat more than one meal a week, but I would make it all in one day, not spread throughout. The reason being that when you cheat you shock your metabolism. It works really well by doing it one day a week of cheat foods, then the very next day eating strict. If you eat one meal 3-4 times a week, your body will not respond very well to it IMO. But most importantly, do what works for you as I am in no means the master of nutrition.

I think what Pumpseeker was saying is that when bulking... eat! Yes, make sure you get your six to seven clean meals in a day... anything over that is added calories for bulking! Now when cutting, different story!

Without a cheat meal..the thyroid and metabolism can deregulate..good to keep a cheater once a week..instead of a day keep it to a meal.

i agree with daman1 too. i read a few places that one cheat day a week is good for speeding up your metabolism. and thats the whole day not just one meal. but when you eat good 6 days a week its kinda hard to cheat all day long on your cheat day. for me it is anyways.

i used to diet insainly strict as to where i nearly had to have a cheat meal in order to keep from going crazy.. now i just keep a clean moderate diet and have a "cheat" meal as a reward, every so often (maybe 1 in a week to wekk and 1/2). i find that keeping my diet this way frees me from having those insatiable cravings- and allows me to keep a more consistant eating plan.. works for me anyway...
