Live Draft "Complete"

With about a 50% turnout, we went ahead and held the draft, which went pretty quick with half of the teams on autopilot. A few of us chatting during the draft came to the conclusion that the best course of action to take is too see if those who autopicked can all get on the negotiating table and work out trades and such to make their rosters more complete. I mean, the autopicks are nothing to sneeze at, as the pre rankings were SOLID and the only real complaint would be that you are too qb heavy or too WR heavy, etc...all of which can be hashed out through trades and such. If you guys aren't down with that, or have other ideas, feel free to post 'em up here...i just can't imagine we could, before thursday, get another live draft together.

I could not chat, and my first pick was auto, which screwed up my whole draft board. I took a bunch of quarterbacks and am willing to trade them for rb and wr. For future reference, you can't use Mozilla for the Espn Draft.

I say everyone has to trade for players, rather than have another draft.

My power was out for the first hour of the draft... I have about 7 players auto drafted. I'm not going to be a pus and complain, but I would def. be in favor of having another draft. I'm guessing all those florida people missed too?

I was in for the live the entire time but couldn't chat for some reason. I personally do not think there is time for another draft before Thursday. Like you said, the predraft order was pretty stout so the picks should be at least decent.

I also understand that the hurricane had a lot to do with no shows so I would be understanding of another draft for them guys.

You have two of the top 12 running backs and a 1st tier receiver in Lavernanues Coles. With 288 players drafted you arent going to have a solid lineup top to bottom especially if you let them auto pick for you. Now it is time to see what a real fantasy owner you are and how you can manage what you are dealt. I dont think it looks terrible though.

I missed the first 5 rounds last year. The thing I learned is that it is the late rounds that make or break your draft. If you think about it everyone at the top pretty much puts up the same totals in the grand scheme of things but it is the sleepers in the 6th-18th round that make all the difference. Hell last year the computer took Terrell Owens #1 for me but I still fared very well regardless. Besides its all about managing the waiver/injury wire and making key trades I think.

Well I couldn't get on line at all....I've been without power since Saturday (It's still out and I have no idea when it'll return either) so I had my boss hop on line and draft for me. I told him to get anyone he could get his hands on and I'd do a little "tradin" with my bros if they were game. Sooooooo...........who the hell wants some ****ty players? I am STILL at work, since Friday with 12 hours off to go home and see my family. I am with Mass on this one. I blame Francis completely. I do have some solid picks, ones that I would have made. Santana Moss and Elam, but I dont understand how I could have gone thru an entire draft on auto and not have received a QB?? Either way, I am glad to see that some of my south florida friends are doing ok.

It doesnt select based on what positions you need but rather on what ranking a particular player had. If it came to your spot in the draft the computer will select the highest player. The highest player at that given time may have been a running back or a wide receiver. Keep in mind that when it came to the late rounds (4-18) all of the high ranking quarterbacks were gone being the reason why you didnt get one. Unless you were there to pick your own players or pre-ranked them it is not likely that you got a solid quarterback.

Agreed...and while it's not an ideal situation in the least, I don't know we could possibly squeeze in another draft prior to the start of the season unless EVERYONE said they could make it tonight or tomorrow night without a doubt. As it stands now, though, this is a zero sum game and it means if a few teams are thin on quarterbacks, some are thick on them. Likewise, for those with several running backs, that means there are at least a few teams that are short (such as mine). The way the stats pan out, RBs are most heavily valued, so with the number of computer picks occurring, RBs went awfully quickly (as such, my #1 RB is questionable for the first three weeks or so and my #2 RB isn't even the featured back on his team). Given that, with open trade talk and such, this league can work still without redrafting...IF people are diligent about working out trades.
