If you are a hard gainer and stay lean naturally I would try nlarge2 from prolab. You can get it from the board sponcer www.allsportsnutrition.com

Up Your Mass by MHP is a good gainer that has complex carbs as the carb source, no malodextrin or dextrose.

I would have to say Nlarge2 as well, I am a VERY hard gainger and I gained about 6 pounds after a 10 pound tub and TONS of food. Plus chocolate taste just like ovaltine when you mix it with milk.

I know a dude that took the Nlarge2 and had great results off it, and I've only heard good things. I'm surprised you got nothing out of it.

only thing I would have to say about nlarge is it goes to your belly as well, but what ever it takes to gain weight...i loved it.

thats why I would use UP your Mass by MHP, no malodextrin. Unless your using it during and post workout, then Nlarge is fine.

I use mammoth 2500 by interactive nutrition and that works pretty good for me, it has 970 calories and 152 grams of carbs per serving. I've been on it since last year and managed to gain a good amount of weight with it.

I take it post workout and also have a serving before bed. Is malodextrin and fructose a bad thing?

before bed? yes. post workout, no.

a better option before bed would be a whey shake mixed with 3 or 4 TBSP of PB, if your trying to gain weight.

I drink that during and PWO. It is still not suited for before bed.
