I have searched and did not find any results for this - how should creatine be cycled, i.e. how long on, how long off?

u don't have to "get off" creatine, it's not an AAS.
it's just another Amino Acid that your body needs.

As a supplement, though, don't bodybuilders cycle use of the supplement?

I thought your muscles got saturated with it etc....

you can intend to use it for certain period of time, but that doesn't mean u gotta get off else you die..

I'm not worried about death.

I'm aware some bb'rs are in favour of cycling the product to enhance gains. Just wondered what time periods we were talking about.

I've read that members like using it for PCT (especially after using a steroid that causes water retention) to maintain strength levels.

the bodys own production of creatine can reduced by over supplementation, also it stops working after a while. manufacturers recomend one month on then maybe two weeks to a month off, isnt there instructions for its use some where on this site?

I'm currently coming to the end of a course of gear. That's partly what drives my question - I want to get max effect from the creatine when I come off. I'm not concerned about health as know it will not harm in the least, I just am trying to get max efficiency.

That link was just to the homepage of a supp company...

One month on, 2 weeks off? Anyone else's thought would be appreciated....

I've always noticed better results when I cycled creatine. Usually if I took the same amount of time off, I'd respond better.

Some people argue for a loading phase to saturate muscle cells, followed by maintenance and then off....Something like this:

week 1 loading -20g/day
weeks 2-4 maintenace- 10g/day
then 5-8 weeks off, and repeat cycle if you like.....

Personally I would say screw the loading phase- your body makes it's own creatine and most cell activity is receptor mediated, meaning only certain things will pass through the cell unassisted, and creatine isn't one of them....Therefore the excess will just sit outside the cell, maybe causing some "creatine bloat."

Monohydrate sucks at getting absorbed
Creatine Elthyl-Ester is absorbed more effectively but is kinda costly...
Premix- has a lot of sugar and chemicals to try and shuttle it into muscle cells..

Everyone reacts different but I get pimples on my face from creatine....but if you were on gear creatine pimples and bloat should be the least of the problems...

Cycling anything is recomended. Even creatine, the only things that I wouldn't cycle is food, protein and water.

Creatine you dont have to Cycle. They say it help if you do but either way I found it didnt change much with me either way. I personally lost strength when I cycled off. I dont bother with cycleing anymore. Besides you can never have to much Creatine, if you get to much then you will end up just pissing the extra out.

You don't have to cycle creatine, very true, but you CAN have too much creatine in your body. It leads to an increased plasma creatine level which leads to creatine being dumped into organs such as the heart and can lead to death. The human body doesn't get rid of creatine through the urine unless there's a kidney problem. Creatinine is what is urinated out. The human body can only hold but so much creatine in the skelital muscles and it can be very dangerous when not used properly.
