Anyone know if how if you need to stop taking ephedrine prior to a minor surgery? I was wondering if 4 days was long enough before going under anesthesia? Anyone Please?

If you have stopped taking it for 4 days, you will be fine. Anesthetics and ephedrine dont (or atleast, shouldt) have negative interactions

It even warned against high doses of vit c and surgery. Anyone else have surgery and used an ECA in the prior days?

you should be fine ive done it before but just as a precautionary 4 days is totally acceptable

...if doc asked, be honest.. might see a diff. in BP (patient chart of prior visits) and such and when undergoing surg. will estimate amount of sleepin juice to give you...

L~H The doc did not ask, and this will be my first time going under. Do you think I should mention it even though most people say 4 days will be ok, reason being I can't have the doc writing in my charts that I took ephedrine.

Yeah, nothing bad will come out of telling him, thye may just use a different anesthetic

I would discontinue at least 1 week prior. I ran into this problem when i had to go under general anesthesia. Definitely mention it to the doc. Just bc he doesn't specifically ask doesnt mean its OK.

Since your doing ephedrine I think its reasonable to assume you might be using it in conjunction with an ECA stack. You should be fine as far as the ephedrine is concerned. However if for some reason you haven't been told, taking asprin 5 days before surgery is a big no-no.
