i have a problem when im doing any type of bicep curl especially barbell curls. i cant seem to keep my right elbow in to my side when i do curls...keep in mind i got rotator cuff surgery on that arm so im not sure if thats what is doing it or not, is there any type of stretches or pt i can do to help fix this problem. it almost seems natural that my right elbow flares out when i do curls, only when i curl like the bar can i keep it in but even then i have to try hard to do it anyone have any suggestions of what this is caused by?

lighen up the weight, that will stop it from flaring, also work on single arm concentration curls and preacher curls, your elbow wont be able to flare. try the "arm blaster" contraption if you have access to one. pick movements that will not allow you to flare. as for an explanation why this is happening, i have no fcking clue, it may be a compensation of weal rotator cuff muscles, it may not be either, are you doing work for the rotator cuff to strengthen it? if not read my sticky on shoulder rehab and get to it, at least one or 2 times a wk

absolutely agree with doc. sust do concentration curl or preacher curls especially. with these excercises your elbow can't go anywhere.
