I have never been very strong but I am getting weaker or maybe just due to pain I can't lift as much on overhead presses. I was pushing 65's with some pain but not too bad on dumbbell presses and now 45's kill my shoulders. What is odd is I am pushing 105's on incline and flat bench with no pain or trouble for reps/sets. I understand the movement is different pushing straight up but I am in freaking pain. I make sure I stretch good before all workouts without over doing it. I am not sure what is wrong..
Any suggestions on what to do to strengthen this movement?

maybe its cuz youre an old man  jk!
where is the pain at? is it a muscle pain in your delts or is it internal, like in the joint? is there any swelling?
i used to have crazy internal shoulder problems with overhead dumbell presses, well any heavy dumbell press actually. i cut out all dumbell pressing movements and do all barbell presses now and i havent had a shoulder problem since

 well I know part is I am old. hahaha.
It feels more like joint pain.. I have been to the chiro and gotten ART done which helped but when I push up it feels like the joints is going to pop out.. Hard to explain. I did not know if there is some exercises that I can do to make my shoulder "joint" stronger. I don't care if I have to use less weight that does not bother me that much just tired of the pain.
I do lateral side raises and over head presses for shoulders.. maybe there is a better movement that will work my shoulders but not so much strain.

yeah thats the same thing that happened to mine. i first injured it by doing db overheads without a spotter and the weight fell behind my head. every time after that when i tried to push a dumbell up my shoulder would actually pop out of joint...i tried doing dumbells again 6 months later and the first rep it popped out again
when i got injured i stopped doing shoulders for awhile, but i would still use dumbells on flat and incline bp and eventually the injury came back
the only thing i can tell you that helped me was barbell presses, and that you should stop dumbells before it gets worse
ice works wonders too....best of luck to ya

you might want to also try glucosomine chondroitin. it helps renew catilage and lub joints it might help the pain

thanks :)... yeah I have tried that for a long time, I have using it for a while and no relief. I may have to go see a surgeon or something to xray me and see if there is damage in there?? I hate being able to push a ton on bench and not push anything on military.. ugh!!

i would hit the rotator cuff movements to strengthen the shoulder stabilizer muscles, especialy supraspinatus movemnt and external rotation, read the shouder rehab sticky, there are examples of how to do the cuff exercises, keep the reps high, and weight light

also screw an x-ray, go to an orthopedic and get an MRI done of the shoulder rehab doesnt help
