went to the doctors today, I have always had a little pain in my right shoulder. Well today it was pretty serious during my chest workout. so i went and seen my doctor. He took x rays and examined it and said that the loud noises i was hearing were just the tendons moving across the bone. He had me do some tests with arm movement and strength and said it shouldnt be too serious. But refered me to another specialist if i was worried about it. Do you guys think i should go see him and pay 2200 for an mri, or is this common?

I would say get a MRI to be on the safe side but for more than two bags of sand all i have to say is, god bless the NHS.

bro it sounds EXACLY like what i had, it began with a bit pain in my right shoulder (pain was like someone would stick me with a needle or something in the shoulder). when i worked chest it hurt more, i went to the doc they told me it was nothing to serious he told to me to do this with my arms and do that etc etc and he examined me for a min or so. he gave my some voltaren and said it would get better. well it didng get better after going to about 4-5 different docs i went to a specialist (ortho) and he sent me to mri, the mri showed that i had inflammation (tendonitis) in the bicep tendon (where the bicep attach to the shoulder). ive been out of the gym since june last year (its been 11 months now).

my advice to you is to take some time off the gym, ice ur shoulder 3-4 times a day for 20 min each time and do these rehab excersizes doc.sust posted:
do them 3-4 times a week do about 20-30 reps, when u pull back count 3 missisipis and when u release count to 6 missisipis, use really light wheights or just the dumbells without any wheights on and put on more wheight after a week and so on. believe me they help ALOT, and if u do what i told u right now before it gets to serious u will heal alot faster.

why are the tendons making noise and hurting when going over the joint

why are the tendons making noise and hurting when going over the joint

if its the same reason as mine, its coz of oedema(sp?), that means that there is to much fluids in the joint and those parts that should be fitting together like a puzzle, wont. thats why u hear that clicking noise etc.
believe me, follow my advice and u will feel the difference within a few weeks coz im sure u dont wanna end up where i am now

here is exactly what to do and what i do with patients . wait on the mri, nothing worse than losing a grand or 2 on a negative mri. make sure it isnt getting better, good time line is 8 wks. rehab the shoulder using the rotaor cuff movements, stop0 all movements that increase the pain, you can do them very light if it doesnt hurt, but first sign of pain or discomfort, exercise is done. if in 8 wks, with rest, iceing, and rehab work at least 3 days a wk, if you are no better, than it is time for an mri. do you have health insurance?

ok try to rehab the shoulder yourself and take it easy until than, if the shoulder isnt any better by than, thean see an ortho doc. you really dont want to pay for an mri yourself
