which needles for packets and.... ?

Hi.
I am going to be sucking gear out of sachet packets, filtering it and putting it in 10 ml vials for my own use. Instead of storing it in a syringe.
Can somebody spell out for me exactly what I need? and go through it step by step. Maybe a link or somethin ?
1) what size syringe and or needle to suck gear out of package.
2) appropriate filter.
3) 10ml bottles.
4) appropriate needles for sucking gear out of bottle and injecting.

You probably need some 18g for drawing and using as a vent, and also a .2um whatman filter.

I don't know exactly what sachets you are getting, but the ones I got the vendor said they are sterile and filtered. I have used some and not experinced any sighn that they aren't. I used a 20cc syringe and put it in a sterile multi use vile. I used one of the 23gauge needles that came on my injection syringes. I have not tryed a filter, but have heard you can lose a fair amount of oil.

18 gauge is to big. Go with 21 gauge and draw as slow as possible. Sometimes you will loose some oil just try to keep it to a minimum.

10 ml syringe is the best if sachets are 5ml.
5 ml syringe is the best if sachets are 3ml.

I just did this today. I used a 10ml syringe with an 18g needle on it to suck out the oil. I then took the needle off and put the .2um whatman filter on the syringe with an 18g needle on the filter...I used a 23g needle to puncture the 20ml sterile vial (off to the side) and act as an air vent ...then punctured the middle of the rubber stopper with the 18g whatman syringe combo and squeezed the oil in the vial. All packets and stoppers are alcohol swabbed prior to use. (the corner of the packet was cut with alcohol swabbed scissors).


After the final packet was placed in the vial I used about 2cc of air to clear the filter (to get out ALL of the oil)


by the way...all of my 5ml packets produced either 5.5ml or 6ml.....
