Hi guys. I finally got back some pictures from my first contest back in March. It was a great learning experience. Sure I have tons of room for improvement but at least I finally got my feet wet and I think I did ok for my first time around. Looking forward to doing much better next year. Special thanks to Nark who helped with with some last minute posing that I had problems with.
Here was some progress pics and diet followed.

Hey Bro!!!!!
I was following your thread and wondered what the hell happened to you, You look really good, looks like you really got things to come together in the last 5 days, im impressed!
the only complaint is the posing which nark hopefully helped you with but who knows how to pose without any practice anyway right?
I hope that when I compete I can look that good. great job, a win will deff be in your future very soon.
congrats!!!!

Thanks man. I appreciate the kind words. I'll tell you, standing up there posing all ***leted is so physically exhausting. It was a lot more draining than I thought it would be. Back in college I was a NCAA Div 1 wrestler, so I know what physically exhausting is. I wouldn't say it was as tough as a wrestling match, but keeping your muscles flexed and hard for extended periods of time was definitely demanding in such a ***leted state. I saw a thread a few days ago debating whether or not bodybuilding is a sport. After going through it all, I definitely vote yes, it is a sport.

quads look great well done!
Thank you. Yeah, I've always though my quads were one of my best features. I leaned a lot from this contest. First off I came in too light. I was in the light heavy weight class 176 1/4 to 198 1/4 and weighed in the low 180s. I was trying to make the middle class weight and missed, but after seeing the middle class contestants I realize I'm too tall to be a middle weight. Started at 225 this year and dropped down. Next year I think I will bulk up in around the 40s and come down and be bigger in the light heavy weight class. Also I think I need to be harder, but know what I need to do to accomplish that. Next year I am going to start dieting earlier.

Thank you! Getting big again! Its amazing after the contest my body was just so anabolic. I was just absorbing nutrients like crazy. I thought I was going to come back in the gym so weak. But within a few weeks I was breaking personal records. Hit 600 on the dead lift. 500 on squat and 335 on the bench, which is huge for me because I'm not really a big bench guy. I'm sitting at 205 right now and I look bigger and harder than ever. Its really amazing the things that happened after the contest. I'm not sure if that is normal or not, but if it is, I think everyone should cut down once a year, even if they do not compete just to get the benefits of after the cut. Its just so amazing to me.

this might sound stupid, but what ways would you use to get your muscles harder? like what type of training, diet, and which drugs?

Basically, all diet. I was still holding some fat and water. Next year I need to start dieting earlier than I did. And I will try sodium ***letion next year to shed water. I won't change anything in my training. I won't change anything in my diet either. I will just start earlier. If you follow one of the links in the above threads it has my diet listed.
ps. why the heck is the word d e p letion *** out?

Here was my diet. Like I said in the above threads, I wouldn't change anything about my diet. I will just start dieting earlier. I don't really think its possible to bulk up and get hard at the same time. IMO its either cut or bulk. You can't really have it both ways. Of course you can always "clean" bulk so you don't put on too much fat, but you really are not going to be able to get that lean hard look anyway that you bulk.
1) 1 fruit on the bottom yogurt, 3 scoops of pro complex protein powder
2) 1 pound 93% fat free ground turkey Romain lettuce, spinach, or broccoli
3) 3 scoops pro complex protein powder
4) PWO 60g carbs 35g protein (ABB Mass recovery)
5) 3 scoops pro complex protein powder
6) 1 pound 93% fat free ground turkey Romain lettuce, spinach, or broccoli
Wednesday is steak night replaces a turkey meal
Sat and Sun chicken breast replaces turkey meals
*** I forgot to add that fish salmon etc can be substituted for the turkey, but I hate fish so i never eat it.

Well done G.
We only had a couple days to work on that posing... and i must say you took it in to the best of your ability.
You went out there to win.. and i don't think you lost.
..Not in my opinion at least.
You beat the guy you were 5 days before the contest.
Come next year you'll slaughter the guy you were this year.
That is progress: that is what we are about.
Much respect my friend

Well thanks Nark, your tips actually helped quite a bit. And you are right, I do not feel like I lost. I did my best for the first time around Now that I have gotten my feet wet, I know what mistakes to correct for next year and what things I need to improve upon. Training hard now and looking forward to next year. Thanks again.

I really have no idea what the macros are. I just know the principal behind it was high protein, low carbs and fat. I don't ever really bulk per say. I pretty much just eat normally and supplement my diet with a few protein shakes. I guess for next year though I need to get up to about 240 and that is 15 pounds more than I have ever weighed, so I guess I'm going to have to come up with some type of bulking diet. I am also a low dose test guy. I pretty much stay on 250mg of test/wk for 9 months, every once in awhile bumping it up to 300mg-400mg. HCG throughout the cycle. Then come off for three months. I'm more of a slow and steady guy. I never really try to make huge gains real fast. Been doing this type of cycling for a few years, getting blood work all along the way. Haven't had any problems recovering yet, I believe HCG is the key.
