Hi guys!!
i was just wondering.... i feel like im not either lifting hard enough or i just dont get stronger or i just dont feel the results of my work out when i alternate from one day to arms, next day chest, next day legs, next day back, take a break and repeat
BUT i did one time 2 days back to back my chest (i forgot the reason why) and on my third day of waking up, my chest was all sore and tense, and no not the painful i pulled a muscle or ripped a muscle fiber kinda the deal, the sore feel like you know you did a good job!!
i love that feeling !!!!
so i was wanting some thought one what you guys thought about this routine
1 week (Mon. - Wed. - Fri. - Sun.) all Chest workouts with of course off days (Tues. - Thurs. - Sat.) cardio days
then 2nd week (Mon. - Wed. - Fri. - Sun.) all arm workout with of course off days (Tues. - Thurs. - Sat.) cardio days
then 3rd week etc... etc... upper and lower back with of course etc... etc... cardio
what do you guys think? how would you rate this approach?
i tested it again, i did 2 days back to back on arms and on Wed. my arms were sooooore!!
now i know i know you guys will say "why dont u try 2days of each part?"
well i was wondering since i am takin 1 day rest in between, its not like ill do them back to back, but im sure if i were to do it back to back, i wouldnt go past 3 days :-P
so what do you guys think?!
thanks alot for all your professional criticism!!

when you write for advice add your stats... example your 5'10 190lbs 18% body fat...
now honestly i've read alot about personal fitness and training but i have never heard of that type of routine ever... i rate it a 3.5 on a scale of 10 and ill tell you why..
More doesn't necessarily mean better.. it's called " over training ", your muscles don't grow while your in the gym getting your pump, they grow while your resting and eating. in your routine you work out your chest 4 days of of 7...maybe you feel sore and sore definitely is a good feeling even though i dont feel it as much anymore.. but what is your chest routine like ??
I work out chest and tricepts in the same session, its just my personal preference, but for example this is my chest routine ...
My stats are 5'6 156lbs 13% body fat , i work to gain more muscle mass
high weight, low reps
i hit flat bench 4 sets
i hit incline bench 4 sets
i hit decline bench 4 sets
i hit DB flies 4 sets...
then i move onto tricepts...
close grip bench press 4 sets
dips 4 sets
skull crushers 4 sets
tricept pull downs 4 sets...
after that day its impossible to do that 3 more times in one week and my chest is definitely worked.. so i ask you what is your chest routine like ? it may actually be under worked on that one day ...thats why you feel the need to return two days later and try it again ?? and i noticed you said 3rd week you do back ?? but when do you have time to fit in other important muscles such as Traps , Shoulders..your bench will improve the more all your muscles as a whole improves, tricept shoulders chest...the chest has mutliple parts to it, thats why emphasize to people to hit the different sections for 4 sets.. it's logical

well i work out my chest really good 3 times a week right now, with a saturday or sunday, whichever i pick, to do a mix of all my muscles, so its like i do 3.3 days of chest
i can rep alot, but i dont get sore, ill increase my weight and i cant lift heavy, so i bring it down some, rep that amount, but i dont get sore, so i increase the weight, but i cant lift it... you see the predicament im in?
:tear:
but that one time i did chest 2 days in a row, the 3rd day i woke up sore!! i woke with that great feeling i used to love to get when i started going to the gym, it felt GREAT !!!
but yea, i understand my muscles grow when they are resting, wa about taking a day break in between? u know, like i said in beg., mon., wed., fri., and sun.?

and describe what your chest routine is in detail from when you walk into the gym
whats your stats ?
his stats are in his profile
I agree with Godson, for the way I train hitting chest for example 3 times a week would definitely be overtraining.

so working 1 muscle an entire week a month? and then a different one the next week?
so you would hit chest 1 week every 6 to 7 weeks.
no this is an extremely dumb idea and soreness has absolutely nothing to do with muscle growth. if your getting sore it means your muscle was not conditioned for the last workout or your overtraining. your supposed to rest a muscle at least 48 to 72 hours minimum for a large variety of reasons.
why not buy some books on training and educate yourself.

aggressive? not really. i think you are new and trying to figure out shit which is cool but there is alot of science involved in training. getting these books will assist you a great deal by building base knowledge. hell, even research it online if you like but coming with training plans like the one you gave, just think about it for 1 second: training a body part 3 times in 1 week every 6 weeks. look at it from a distance and see what i mean. i have never heard of any training system like that, ever. it makes no sense. this is where building that base knowledge will help you in the future planning of your training.

i agree...you are trying to experiment and figure out new things, which is great and admirable but its been done! there is a ton of info on here about proper workouts from individuals who have used the trial and error method to get where they are today...
take advantage of the information supplied on this site...i had been lifting for 5 or 6 years before i came across this site. if i had came across it earlier i would have corrected TONS of mistakes i made along the way and focused my efforts the right way
yes u need to figure out what works best for your body, but you should be tinkering existing models and principles, not coming up with your own
read up and youll be all good

no no i know, ive already jumped from 3 different forums
i started off in the anabolic one, wow, i sure got ripped a new one :(
then i went to the diet one and ive been there for like 4months!! i love it and ive learned alot
but just like i do before starting up another forum, i wanna be silent and just read threads until i educate myself more
but whats hard about the weight lifting is i dont know ANY weightlifting lingo :(
u guys i do dead lifts and claps and yatta yatta, wth is that mean?!?!
i just lift dumbells slowly, then i sit on an incline to work out my chest
then i get on this machin where i lean on my waist angled and i move up and own to workout my lowr back, thats how i xplain things
this is why its hard to understand or to express myself :(

making your muscles hurt doesnt mean you got a good workout. more recovery and food, less beating the hell outta your muscles.

I got one thing to say. IMO if you take 2 or more weeks off between training a certain bodypart it will begin to atrophy slighly. Your routine above will never work IMO. I personally could never train chest 3 times a week either. Try doing a few heavy sets of 3-6 to failure and that alone will keep you sore for 3-4 days. Meaning, if you repeat that training, you'll rip a muscle. Heavy sets to failure will get you big. I like to hit everything once every 6-7 days. My philosophy is beat it up, let it rest.
