Who Amongst You Dare Challenge Me on the (virtual) Gridiron??

Here it is, the official, "let's have an AR fantasy football league" thread. We could set up a group on Yahoo's Fantasy Football, since it allows us to either do a live draft, or create a ranking system in which the computer automatically drafts for us once everyone submits their ranking. The live draft is, of course, preferred, but may be tough to organize.

Anyway, anyone wanting to be a part of the OFFICIAL AR fantasy football league, express your interest here!!!! I think it would spice up the Lounge quite a bit for me to be able to brag about my weekly victories over the likes of Ron (who is out of his league out of the rink) and Big Texan (who, I concede, would absolutely dominate in a Yahoo fantasy rodeo league). Come on, don't be shy.

EDIT: As per a few replies I've gotten through PM's, I want to reiterate (or iterate, if you haven't yet read anything below) that the league is free in every sense of the word. The only real "cost" incurred by you is the fact that you have to set up a FREE yahoo ID so that they can send you promos and such (that's how they bank letting us use all their services and bandwidth). Now there's NO excuse!!

EDIT #2: As per a few more PM's, here is where you'll find a basic summary of how this particular type of Fantasy Football is played. (http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/football/frules/frules-01.html) This is a head-to-head league, with the draft style yet to be determined. If we end up with 15 members and only ten could manage to "meet" online at a given time and day, we'll just go by the prioritized player cards, which basically means you prioritize your players strategically and the computer drafts for us based on your preferences.

Well, there's still PLENTY of time before the season starts, correct? Off the top of my head, i think it's the last week in August?

Anyway, I'm hoping to get about 8 AR members, and, since I assume it'll be too tough to organize a live draft between eight people in differing time zones, we can do it by priority list with a deadline, meaning everyone has from now until say August 24th to prioritize their players and positions (it makes sense once you get there). As soon as there is interest expressed by a few more bros (or gals) I'll set it up so we can get to work on crafting our lists.

Alright, I just set up the league with an autodraft set up, meaning you'll be able to sign up immediately and begin prioritizing players for the autodraft based on those rankings the last week of august (that should give everyone plenty of time).

The league ID is 228033....right now i'm going to ask that people PM for the password so that we don't have any of the high schoolers or saboteurs on the board taking up a team just to piss people off. I set it up for TEN teams, head-to-head play, drafting offensive position players and a defensive team. I believe you'll have to create a yahoo ID to participate...no big deal as it's free and you never have to use it again after this fantasy football season.

Also, you heard it here first: BigGreen, and his upstart bunch of underdogs, "The Ivy Leaguers" will run away with this thing!!

Well, I just PM'ed a number of people who are active in the sports sub-forum...hopefully we can drum up some interest here and hopefully we get a bunch of good guys that will stick it out till the end even if their team isn't playing all that well. There's nothing worse than a fantasy league getting ruined because everyone not in the top four after four weeks calls it quits. Now it's time to sit back and play the waiting game.

BG as for the statements about the Texas Anabolic Rangers... none and I do mean none of those accusations have nor ever will be proven. As for the elderly lady found with the Rangers bumpersticker stuck to her forehead, well our spokesperson released a statement shortly after the incident which clearly showed no connection between anyone from our organization and what happened to the victim, it was clearly sabotage by those two faced, Ivy Leaguers. Okay, i've received a few PM's with regard to the rules as they stand now...I have poked around and I can update them up until the draft (whether it be a live draft or prioritized player preference sheets). As it stands now, the starting positions are listed below as well as their point values. Also, and this is important, we can add far more than ten teams. I repeat, so long as there is genuine interest over the next couple of days (and I know I've sent out more than 10 password PM's to interested parties) I say we let let the thing fill out and then adjust rosters accordingly. Obviously, if we have 16-18 teams, it'll be awfully difficult to field the same sized rosters that we might with 10 teams.

I geek out for the NFL draft and crap like that and when I pick games I do 2 days of analysis or as the Anabolic Rump Rangers call ANALsis, anyways I go deep researching and that's for an office pool that I'm not even in! So for all that, and the luck of the draft.....I'll be a solid bottom feeder, BUT! I will do everything I need to do to beat the Anabolic Rump Rangers Candy Asses!
