Week 8 saw several top teams reassert their dominance after the last two weeks had "mixed it up" a bit in addition to the winless Texans scraping and clawing their way towards their first victory. With the midway point of the NFL season crested, the ARFFL playoffs loom out over the horizon and games take on an increasing importance.
Anabolic Texans 109 - Buncha Bums 103
The Texans (1-7) continue to rely heavily on San Diego, as LaDanlian Tomlinson, Eric Parker and David Boston accounted for over 60% of the Texans' points. The Bums (3-5) continue to field a solid team, but can never seem to have everyone put it together in the same week.
Florida Fury 120 - Dirty Dawgs 87
The Florida Fury (6-2) continue to get it done by whatever means necessary. While not always the prettiest of victories, solid all-around play is just what the doctor ordered for this team to stay atop its division. While the Fury's score appears low, players for the squad put up decent numbers but NONE were able to pull out a TD. Fans of the Dawgs (2-6) are left scratching their heads as once again some big name players come up short (Plaxico Buress with 1 catch for 6 yards, Drew Brees with 3 picks).
Midgets on Swole 184 - Bad Bunnies 168
The Bunnies (5-3) finally get a taste of what it's like to be hit hard by bye weeks, though Randy Moss (125 yards and 2 TDs) kept them in the game. Ultimately, however, the Midgets (6-2) were able to match Moss with Torry Holt (175 yards and a TD) and overcome the Bunnies with a strong backfield (Alexander and Henry each going for about 130 yards of total offense).
Ivy Leaguers 196 - Mutha Scrathaz 109
A week after getting a scare from the Texans, the Leaguers (5-3) reclaimed their reputation as a never-say-die bunch by routing the now 4-4 Scrathaz. Marvin Harrison (8 catches for 100 yards) and Daunte Culpepper (241 yards and 2 TDs) continue to justify their presence on the team after a shaky first two weeks for Harrison and injury for Culpepper. A bright spot for the Leaguers continues to be Tony Gonzalez, who puts up WR numbers from the TE slot (6 catches for 65 yards and a TD). The Scrathaz were hampered by an Ahman Green bye week, and their other RB stud, Jamal Lewis (150+ yards of offense) was unable to pick up the slack despite a great performance.
Hoosier Daddies 215 - Tuefel Hundes 124
Following a week 6 loss to the Florida Fury, the Daddies (6-2) have rebounded with two big weeks, dismantling the Hundes (3-5) with truly great play at every position. Had the Daddies' QB Steve McNair not 'faltered' (187 yards a TD and an INT), the Daddies may very well have decimated the record for highest single game point total. The Hundes were especially hurt at the QB position, with Tim Couch and David Carr combining for 15 completions and 102 yards.
Black Fury Whip 216 - Tequila Worms 97
Dominating running back play on the part of the Fury Whip (5-3) that saw Priest Holmes go for 83 yards and 3 TDs and Stephen Davis pile up 178 yards and 2 TDs was more than enough to carry the Fury Whip past the Worms (2-6), who saw a week without a single TD.
