My son just got a NIKE camp invite. Anyone been to one? What kind of timing devices are used?? How did you test out??

I play D1AA at Villanova and at the Nike combine its all electronic now, even the vertical jump is electronic. lazers galore. then depending on your position you bench 185 as much as possible or 225 for bigger dudes. then agility and shuttle runs

Thats awesome, with your sons statistics I was expecting he would be in that caliber. He should go DI.

I went to one in Blacksburg Va about 2 years ago and everything was electronic devices for 40's, vert and agility. and yes there will be enough scouts there to get ur son seen. does he have any offers yet?

Oregon is sending him alot of stuff.....we're going to Junior Day this weekend.....then NIKE camp at eugene in June.
Was the 40 yard electronic start a touch pad or laser at the start too?
I guess they are using a force plate now for vert.....how does that work?
He's repping 30+ @185
4.47 hand timed on track(fast surface)......4 flat shuttle
He's just 5'9" at 200 lbs though.Last edited by Badgerman; 03-02-2005 at 12:23 AM.

I think these camps are ok. In the end it's all about what your son can do on film that matters to them. My coach use to say,"what you see on fill is what you get, no better, no worse." So if he can have some great highlights and some all around solid games he be alright with out any camps. The camps are used so that you can get your name out there. After the camp is over they want to see GAME FILM. no one every gets a full ride because of nike camp.

i went my last year..(really my the end of my junior year, but thats the last time u can go- as a "senior")
anyway they used electric testing for the vert, but it all depends on who u have testing u..some guys will let u bend your knees while your in the air and some wont..some of them will let u land with your knees totally bent..its such a joke! everything else was hand time

I was wondering if it was based on time in the air.....you want to land bent legged and flat footed in that case.......kind of a stupid way to measure vertical.

It's GW's Fault......
Everything else is why shouldn't this be!
I agree it is not the best way in my opinion, but they know a hell of a lot more than me.
LOL

i went to one a few years back at UNC and the 40's, shuttle, were done by hand with a stop watch but they had a electronic vertical jump pad, then later they do the one on ones but anyway train hard and good luck to your son
