    No NHL means no draft??

since the season is most likely not gonna happen this year, is there still gonna be a draft come june?...i dont see a point, and if i was a player being drafted i wouldnt want to be drafted into a crumbling league anyways, id rather go right to europe and start making money

You can be drafted to a team and still play in europe if you wish. It's when you sign a contract for the team your drafted for that you have to play for that team.

Crosby will be number 1. Hes supposed to be the "next gretzky". and if you dont believe that (cuz so many others were supposed to be), the great one said it himself

I sure hope he is bigger...the game has bulked up and changed quite a bit. The tolerance for clutching and grabbing today would have a 99 clone putting up Larionov numbers...

So the next "great one" would have to be more of a Mario...and even he was complaining about the C&G

played against gretzky too many times. he would dominate any era. they can claim all they want. there will never be another 99.

You playing against Gretzky and the 220 lb shadows (Federov) spawned out in the last decade or so I'm sure are like night and day...

The game has changed, if you really have played at that level you would know that.

Not taking anything away from the gr8one, but he would not fair as well today...sorry.

im 5'9 38 years old. with the guys on lockout i skate 3 to 4 times a week with an nhl team.(informal of course and we would never dream of using the facilities. lol.) the boys are young, big, and fast. i still hold my own no problem. gretz would do just fine believe you me. the only thing that has changed with the bigger guys is the amount of room you have to operate. when i played i think the biggest guy in the league was only like 215. guy named klienendorst with the rangers. if you can play, you can play. look at martin st louis from tampa, he's smaller than me. he is a hell of a player and not even close to what wayne was. if we were talking about football, then and now, i think it would be a different story. but in our sport, size really doesnt matter.

Well it's fun to debate none-the-less 1819. I dont know, I still feel the now tolerated clutching and grabbing along with big speed would give him problems.

    Just my opinion.

Nice to see you still lacing em up at 38. I'm 35 and havnt gone 30 and over yet

its always a good debate. not as good as football though. i always like to argue how well a jim brown would do today. or baseball. i wonder if babe ruth could even hit randy johnson. its nice to sit back and say what if? its good to be retired. truthfully, i cant wait for these guys to go back to work. the old bones are a little sore.
