check out sophos.com and look up that virus. it should tell you how to remove it. disable sys restore then restart your pc then re enable it.
Have you tried reverting back to another checkpoint? if that fails try downloading AVG i have that on my new system after nortons didnt do its job and i praise it.
I reckon that anyone running a W2003 server environment would have a very recent backup to revert to, right?
There is no sys restore on Win Server 2003.
I agree with arsenegger, if you haven't already go to
http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/da...oval.tool.html
and see if this will help! Good luck!
Well met, my fellow IT-geek. :wg:Quote:

No bro, you sound like you have a hijacker program if it keeps on changing your IE settings. use spysweeper or hijack this to find out where the culprit is. If you view my other thread on this board it may help you understand why virus scanners detect spyware as viruses. let me know if I can help bro. PM me if you want.
BTW adware will not detect hijacker programs. I am fixing to post a long thread on spyware and hijacker programs. Watch for it.
...I fixed it a while ago. I went into safe mode and ran McAfee's stinger, virus scanner, and AdAware SE. Then I deleted the QUARANTINE folder and then re-created it. I then went into the sys32 folder and deleted some suspicious .dll's. Cleaned.
ah yes the stinger fix. That's macafee's answer to a spyware program that it can't clean.
See ya around amigo.
