    I.P. Address

I was interested to know if the I.P. address for my computer will be given out even though I signed up for a website on a different computer in a different area.

Which IP address will show up to the owner of the site ?

Use Ghostsurf, enable the "hide IP address" option, and enable the "allow user info" option so it can access your cookie; guarantee if your account is still active, you'll be able to use it on most forums (had a similar problem, got another ISP provider, all of a sudden my account didn't work on one site). Ghostsurf also allows true anonymous web surfing (internet condom -- safe surfing).

When you sign for a website, it logs your current IP address (i.e. your IP address at the moment you logged/registered). However, everytime you login from a different machine, it will log your new IP address and NO one will come to know that the old and new IPs belong to the same person unless you are using the same screen name.

You can check your current IP address (it is also what the mod can see) by doing the following, asuming you are using Windows operating system:

1- go to Start, and then Run.
2- Type cmd in the edit box. cmd stands for Command.
3- cmd will launch what is called Command Prompt (simply a Black screen).
4- Type ipconfig (for IP configuration) and hit Enter key and you will see your IP address in the form xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx such that x is a digit between 0 and 9. For example, 123.456.789.111

Odds are, however, that your IP will change everytime you log on, particularly if you're on dial-up. Cable modems may change IP whenever you power it on and off.

The admin was pretty much making an empty threat.
