    help. something wrong with explorer

Whenever I try to open up a pop up with Internet Explorer I get a blank white screen. I restored my defaluts but it just made things worse and some sites won't open for me anymore. Anyone know how I can fix this?

I turned off anything with a pop up blocker and even shut off my virus control but still nothing. I can't even re install IE because you need a pop up to do so.

You probably got a browser hijack which means you have had malware downloaded into your machine.

You need to try to get over to www.tomcoyote.com forums and look under the hijack thread, there is a program you can download and then post your regi info and the mods over there will tell you what to remove from your system. http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/

You also will want to go to www.lavasoftusa.com and download a free copy of adaware and run it

Then go to http://www.safer-networking.org/ and download a copy of search and destroy and run it and clean your system of spyware and adware.

Check to make sure your critical updates are done if you are using a windows machine.

hijacks can be very hard to fix but can be done if you catch them early.

    Good luck bro.

Post your hijackthis tread in this forum and I will look at it, also I would post it on. www.techspot.com under windows security section.

If you can post the regi output here form HJ and lets look. It sounds like your PC got screwed by a hijack which means it is probably full of Malware.

OK, it might be time to consider another browser.
    Something more efficient

Exactly, get rid of IE and try Firefox or Opera.

Try this. Within an IE browser, go to:

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced

Under the Security section within the Advanced tab, check the "Do Not Save Encrypted Pages to Disk". Accept these changes and then close all IE browsers that are open. Reopen your browser and see what happens.

lol...i think it's funny how many people dislike explorer and go with firefox or mozzilla when they are equally as prone to vulnerabilities :P
