desktop issue
So, it goes into start up mode loading Windows and then the comp shuts off and restarts and this just keeps continuing. It is a custom gaming build that is about 5 years old. A buddy helped me build it, but don't talk to him anymore. Replaced the hard drive last year and had a clean boot due to a virus. Thinking maybe bad power supply. What do u guys think the issue might be?

read this for your version of windows and then read off blue screen code...
if it says unmountable boot sector its usually a bad hard drive,
If it says IRLQ error its usually a bad driver
if it says page fault found in an un paged area its usually a bad video card
may also be a generic stop code error with lots of Zero's or X's or letters like 0x0000000f.
Follow the on screen instructions and then I can give you a rough estimate of what it is....

THX. I looked deeper and found that the heat sync clips had come off the mother board. So, either find a repla***ent on the clips or time to upgrade the board

If you have holes already in your board and heatsink you could always bolt it in and use nylon washers......just make sure you put some good heat paste on the processor. I did that with my current rig and it runs really cool with no issues. It may save you from buying a new board.
