Help--I'm a vegetarian--what is the best diet for me to LOSE weight??

I'm a vegetarian--I'm trying to eat several meals a day. I dont know what is best to eat--i used to eat fruit but apparently that's not good--not sure what to eat for breakfast? and the other little meals in the day--I love steamed veggies-can i supplement protein w/ metrx lite shakes or are egg whites better?? Can someone help me or make a few suggestions--I'm so frustrated and my weight is stable instead of diminishing--thanks!

oh man i do not even know where to begin. drinking protein shakes will not give you the same benefits as eating real whole foods. you need fats as well, you cannot get this from veggies.

hoping that your not a vegan and can eat such things as eggs, cheese and such. For breakfest you can eat cup of eggwhites with a whole one. Protein shakes are a must of course. Some fish oil/olive oil. Nuts.. Cheese.. Soya beans even tho they promote estrogen.. some are okay.. SOME... Tofu.. such things.. being a vegetarian and dieting is like being one legged and trying to win a marathon.. but tell us a list of things you eat and dont eat and we'll help you out..

Please do NOT pm me with numerous messages asking these same questions. They shall/will be answered here, not in pm's.

You'll want to post your daily outline as you submitted it to me, as you are barely eating more than a 6 year old does. You are not going to lose fat this way, not at all. As well, vegetarians have a harder time with body composition changes due to limited choices, and I find it very difficult to be successful by having this be the case.

Holy $hit.... that is all you eat?? How do you live eating that much... d*mn bro. You really need to add more food to your diet. I am not sure how to approach a vegetarian style fat loss program as I have never seen one, but I think it is still doable since you can use protein shakes and egg whites as lean protein sources, and eating green veggies obviously won't be a problem for you...... just add some healthy fats into the mix like nuts (almonds, walnuts etc..) and some flax & fish oil and you'll be set. Read the sticky at the top of the page for cutting, and just use whatever protein sources you have available in your way of life to impliment into your diet.

Holy $hit. All you eat some days is protein shakes and fruit?

At the top of the diet forum there is a sticky called How To Cut. Read it. Know it. Live it. The only thing that will be different for you is what your sources of protein and fat will be. Only you know what you choose to eat or not to eat, so within your dietary restrictions, take a first stab at creating a cutting diet for yourself. Come back and post it here and we can help you tweak it. Good luck.

allieoops - I'm posting this in your three diet threads because it could have an impact on the advise you receive. Judging by the number of times I've seen you referred to as "Bro", I don't think people realize that you are a female. You should go post an introduction in the "New Female Members" forum so Jason can give you access to the secured female section of the board.

Unless she's 6 years old, she still needs to eat more. My advice still stands, but it's good to know she's a female for when the critique takes place.

not everyone requires high calories to cut/maintain/bulk. it's extremely individual. my girlfriend is cut and hard at 900 calories a day. at 1100 she begins to gain weight. she is 105 lbs. for her, low calories are necessary. might be the same here.

If she had gone ahead and given some of her stats it would have been a great help to everyone who was offering advice. I am sure the guys suggestions would have been much different.

That's possible if she's been starving herself like that for a long time. Sounds like her metabolism is completely phucked up.

How about using something like Boca Burgers as one of your "meat" sources? They have a fairly decent amount of protein in them.

hey guys thanks for responding--yep im a girly girl no bro's here lol--as for what Woodrow wrote about his GF--i agree--even though my trainer told me to intake 1200 cals a day that's ALOT for me I'd prob be more comfy taking in 900 (ofcourse i need to be making changes in my diet alot more protein im assuming) I' have been very thin for a while 100 lbs 5'2 petite--this yr i gained about 30 lbs bc my doc said my metabolism slowed down greatly and began storing all of my fruits veggies as fat instead of burning off. Now i dont know what to eat?? Not sure the best way to jumpstart my metabolism so it works @ an optimal rate--I'll eat eggwhites veggies protein shakes (Metrx lite are out? bc they have 5 grsm of carbs and 22 grms protein) What would be the best things to eat to lose this weight? I'm also going to start a cycle of clen /cyto next week--but that's besides the point--thanks for all of the responses so far i really appreciate it

What is your problem!!!? Can you get it through your head? No one is going to set up a diet for you, you need to research yourself. Guys just ignore her, shes not listening and shes wasting our time.

    Alright listen hun....

You need to not single out SC when asking questions.... as we are all here to help. When you ask Swole specifically he is more than likely not going to respond. Do the research.... create a diet.... and lay it out here so we can pick it apart for you.

Also, the clen /t3 is important.... it is not besides the point. Make sure you remind us of that when you post your diet for critque.

Don't waste your time starting your cycle until your diet is in line. Diet is 99% of the game.

I think you need to read a bit more before creating your diet... this is still no where close to an ideal diet for fat loss. Dextrose is a type of sugar that is used to restore muscle glycogen. If you are not lifting though (cardio only as I see in your roughtine) you don't need dextrose. However I highly suggest you start to lift, as the more muscle you have the more fat you will burn.

You need fats with your meals.... and after your 1st cardio session I would not eat oatmeal. I would eat protein/fat. All of your meals are protein alone... which is not going to cut it.

As I told you in PMs there is NO substitue for a clean diet and cardio. IMO you should be doing cardio a MINIMUM of 45 minutes per session MINIMUM of 5 days per week.

Also, at your current bodyfat% I don't recommend you start any "cycle" right now. You haven't even given yourself enough time with eating clean and working out to see if you even need any additional "help".

I don't mean this to be anything other than helpful - There are NO shortcuts!! It's hard work... ask anyone here

looks like your going to be eating alot of eggs. ( hate to be stuck behind you in a elevator) jk.

    maybe try:

    cardio

    Post cardio meal:
egg whites and 2 whole eggs or almonds

    mid- morning:
    protien shake w/ flax

    Lunch:
egg whites and 2 whole eggs or almonds

    mid afternoon
    shake w/ flax

    workout

    PWO
    protien shake w/ dextrose

    PPWO:
    egg whites/ steamed veggies/ yams

    Before bed
    protien shake w flax

can u eat fish or tuna because you can fit that into alot of your morning - mid afternoon meals.

or maybe make some why protien brownies and work them into your diet somehow.

    just my 2 cents.

It is obvious by your numerous threads and constant pm-ing of different members that you are in a huge rush to lose weight. That is great that you want to change but you need to SLOW DOWN. ChicOnSwole gave you some great advice, don't start any "cycle" right now. Do more research, the information you need will take more than a few hours to gather.

Every post you make now just confims that you have not even read the sticky above, if you had you wouldn't be asking the same questions over and over.

My advice: SLOOOOOOW THE PH*******CK DOOOOOWN!

girly ive been trying to explain this too you for like 45 minutes now..

cardio first thing in the am
meal one -> 25-30 grams of protein/3-5 grams of fat from flax/fish/udo/olive
meal two -> 25-30 grams of protein/3-5 grams of fat from flax/fish/udo/olive
meal three -> 25-30 grams of protein/3-5 grams of fat from flax/fish/udo/olive
meal four -> PWO shake 25 grams of preting 50 grams of dextrose along with 200 mg of r-ala and 600mcg of biotin
meal five -> PWO meal 25-30 grams of protein/35-40 grams of LOW GI carbs along with 100 mg of r-ala and 300mcg of biotin
meal six -> 25-30 grams of protein/3-5 grams of fat from flax/fish/udo/olive

for meal six its best you have some sort of slow digesting protein such as cesina... etc..

you can have fiberous carbs throught out the day..
