    Andre

I hit a bit of a sticking point in regards to my fat loss so I did a serious analysis of my program over the weekend and did a lot of research - on AR and elsewhere.

I came across this dude Andre Avignor, of whom I'm sure most of you are aware. In reading through the numerous threads, I see that a lot of you had issues with his pictures, his advertising, etc. and there were numerous flame wars.

However, I wasn't able to find any debates over his dietary program. Whether you believe that he had surgery or no surgery, juice or no juice, he obviously got himself into pretty good condition.

So, can anyone tell me their opinion on his program without going into why you like or dislike him personally? Very briefly, he proposes that total calories be restricted severely - you should only eat 25% of your BMR calories. He also proposes relatively high protein - .7g per pound of target weight. Many here feel it should be more, but with the calorie restrictions, that's impossible.

I can provide you with more detauils of his program if you need a refresher. he is also a proponent of high volume training - like 80 sets a day!! But I would just like to hear some debate on his diet. I've been stalled for about 2 weeks now and I'm about to say what the hell and give it a shot.

sorry bro never heard of him. although .7g per/lb body weight seems a tad low and 80 sets too much. oh well let the big boys expound on this guy.

Yeah, I know, people hate him.

And his philosophy is going against what I learned here but there is a voice inside my head that says "just do it for 2 months. So what if you lose muscle mass. You'll get it back"

You know I won't answer this. I've no comment.

My thinking is that if one were to do a search on the person in question, you'd find old threads here that can be read. By doing so, you'll see where I had questions for him and he negated to answer those, nor answer any of the other questions/suggestions from bros here on the diet forum, members pics area, and other areas of the board. We never get into detail about his particular diets, but rather his personality, what he doesn't do, what he does in excess, etc. He would never acknowledge us and get past those issues, so that kind of tells you what kind of true people person he is. As well, when asked to contribute HERE if he knows so much and does so well, he has never shown his grill. I know these aren't related in any way to his actual dietary practices, but they are preludes to them.

Many point out (as I did initially when he challenged me like a fool about a year ago) that he always talks FOR his clientele, you never see/hear/etc. from those people THEMSELVES on any message board, ever. Everything is posted by Andre, furniture blowout ad and all. To me, that's exactly the opposite of what people really want to see/hear, and personally as a trainer, I let those people speak FOR me. Doing so even got me in a magazine, as they noticed many DIFFERENT people writing about the success they had in working w/me.

Just a bit of background. He does his thing, I've no problems at all w/it. He seems to have my name stuck in his mouth at times, and when he does, I go and forcefully remove it.

Then you better get that voice checked out, because if you dont care about losing lean mass, then your endeavors in this game are for nothing.

I really don't want to rip his practices apart, but you'd be better off using the cutting sticky above for your goals. He can't get close to the fat loss success of that and limitation of loss of lean mass. No, he can't....not from what I've seen him suggest.

Elliot, you're a freak dude. But you're still cool.

My issue was that my initial weight loss was REALLY fast - 30 pounds in 30 days. Now it's slowed down and it's a mental block I need to get past because I know that a lot of the first part was water and that it's common that initial weight loss happens rapidly, etc. So I went looking for something more drastic.

In the meantime, I also modified my current program. Here's what I'm doing to get things going again.

-Cheat day now a single cheat meal
-cardio bumped up from 30 to 45 minutes
-cardio increased from 4x per week to 6x per week
-cut back on protein slightly (2 shakes per day will now be one scoop (23g) instead of 2 scoops (46g))
-increase fat and make better selections (peanut butter is out and flax (yuck) is back in))

So, I'm throwing Andre's diet in the garbage and I'll see what results I get with my modifications after a couple of weeks.

It was in regards to not commenting on his actual dietary practices/suggestions.

What I provided was a reference for Bad_Man so he could see what Andre was NOT willing to do when asked. He won't give advice here, because he never does for free anyhow, and when he does, it's horrible for the purposes intended. He usually peruses boards that have a very limited dietary knowledge base, which is why he's no longer a frequent visitor here.

That sounds like a much better plan!

I know brutha, it's all good. I just have to also "justify" my reasoning (well, don't have to but I choose to) to avoid it looking like a flame, and to add valid reasoning behind my claims/opinions. I want to look like an honest presenter of info, not biased for any reason.
