    Steamed Brocolli vs. Raw Brocolli

Im assuming that raw brocolli has more nutrients and thus a better health value than steamed brocolli. Can this be confirmed by anyone?

Definitely different, as steaming occurs OVER water, whereas boiling occurs IN the water.

hehe should have worded it correctly, i meant that i thought that steaming over water and boiling in water has the same effect in terms of the vegetables loosing their nutrients.

    first of all...

First, brocolli makes everyone FART. That being said, I know that you should steam vegetables over boiling in all cases but if you have to boil them make sure you drink the water they were boiled in to get the nutrients... or you could say screw it and just take a multivitamin!

Basically, for the veggies to lose their nutrients, the nutrients have to go somewhere, right? If you boil them, they seep into the water. If you steam them, they are not submersed in water so there's nowhere for them to go. So, unless you drink the water in which they are boiled, steamed veggies keep almost all of their nutrients.

whats that supposed to mean? Were all here to learn. Dont discourage pple from asking questions, that would go against the whole purpose of this forum. We are our own google in a sense so keep your comments to yourself.

actually raw broccoli has very little nutritional value, I did not know that until recently. Steaming releases its' vitamins.

    That reminds me:
Beans, beans, they are good for you hart
The more you eat 'em, the more you fart
The more you fart, the better you feel
So eat your beans with every meal.

I know a slight variance on the first two lines:
    Beans, beans, the musical fruit
The more you eat, the more you toot
the more you toot, the better you feel
so eat those beans with every meal

This is a forum for questions asshole. Sorry about the flame, he is just pissing me off. Steaming is great. I try to just heat up the food not saturate it. Heating actually makes some foods more nutritious. Tomatoes are one. The heating process makes the Lycopene more availale for your prostate, and Lycopene is an anti-oxidant that is a powerful deterent to cancer and offers prostate protection.
