oatmeal
pre-workout i always eat one cup of oatmeal and nothing else. Is this enough and are complex carbs ideal for pre and post workout meals?

Nope.
For carbs to be utilized for your workout, they would need to be eaten many hours before-hand. As well, pwo is a time for high gi carb replinishment.
