Sugars after workout, and when taking supps
Hey guys
I used to workout and not eat any simple sugars. However I recently (month ago) started adding these to my diet for protein intake and whenever I take supplements, vitamins etc. Example, if I take a vitamin I will drink a coke with it. If I am drinking a protein shake, I dont use the sugarfree or low sugar kind. I have noticed substantial energy increase and strength increase when working out since the change.
So while it may seem obvious due to the results, can I attribute the results to this? I havent changed anything else.
Does this sound right?

Sounds bad to me. But im not exactly a diet expert, Im just a novice trying to learn in that area. But anyway, just use dextrose with your PWO shake and your good to go.

40 grams of protein and 80 grams of dextrose in your post workout shake. PWO shake and your PPWO meal should make up the majority of your carbs.

My thought on this is sugar is sugar is sugar, whether its dextrose, fructose, sucrose, its all nutrientless simple carbohydrates.

But dextrose PWO is turned into glucose almost immediately and shuttled to the muscles you worked out. Other carbs have to go through more work to be converted to glucose.

From what i understand dextrose is pretty much powdered glucose. But other things like high-fructose corn syrup needs to go through more than dextrose to be changed into glucose. Thus taking longer time to be absorbed and shuttled to your muscles in need of glucose.

Dextrose is pretty much pure glucose, not a mix. Just like why whey isolate is prefferred over whey concentrate and isolate blends.

table sugar however does have glucose in it, but is mostly fructose(a disaccharide), which gives it the very sweet taste

I'd only trust Kentnutrition myself out off all those three!
SD has been wrong in their labeling of products for years, so it makes me wonder if the products are really what they lay claim to be.
