    Night time protein shake

For my last "meal" of the night I drink a protein at about 9 pm and than I go to sleep. It's a casein protein shake that has 25 g of protein and 6 g of carbs. My question is, does this contain enough protein (only 25 g) and does it contain enough carbs (only 6 g) to get me through the night?

    Here's the product right here:

you need a fat with it like flax, not carbs. why would you be thinking about getting alot of carbs late at night??

If you are 80 lbs. it's more than enough, if you are 250 lbs. it's a pitiful attempt at a meal.

You never listed any statistical info, so an answer is not available.

Here's my stats I'm 24 6' 215 with a little gut on me. I have been back lifting for about 2 month's now after taking a 3 year layoff. I walk 5 days a week for 45 min. on the treadmill at 4.2 mph.

Would it be better if I took 2 packets (of protein shake) instead of one (that would make 50 g pro and 12 g of carbs)

or should I stick with 1 packet and add some Natural Peanut Butter?

You need more protein, not more carbs.

Hey Swole would it be wise to add some Natty PB to my shake in my bedtime "meal". That would make 34 g of protein and 18 g of carbs and the fats in the PB.

The pb is good, but not the 18 grams of carbs.

This is what I will be doing with my next cycle...last meal 60grm protein shake...set allarm for 2am(about the time I have to pee from all the water consumption) drink a pre-made 60grm protein shake and then at 5:30 before I head to the gym. And yes casein protein is optimal at night time. Peace

A protein shake is not the ideal meal if you are looking for something to get you through the night....a much better choice would be beef or chicken for your final meal.

Beef is very slow to digest and will give you a steady flow of aminos throughout the night whereas the protein shake will dump alot of aminos all at once and leave you feeling extremely hungry during the night.

yeah, thats why we have been telling him to add an EFA to his shake. . to slow down the digestion

    Here is my bedtime shake:
8oz Hood Chocolate Milk (only 2g Carbs) (12g Pro) (2.5g Fat)
4oz Liquid Egg Whites (15g Pro)
1 Scoop Chocolate Whey Isolate (26g Pro)
    1 Tbsp Flax
Total: 53g Pro 16.5g Fat and 2g Carb
You get milk protein, egg protein, whey protein and EFA's. I'm not sure you could craft a better combonation.

I made the mistake of buying pur casein protein from True Protein. It is unlike any protein shake I have ever had. The consistency is something like that of chalk and really thick and chunky pudding with the most disgusting after taste. A good tasting powder that has casein in it I found is ON's
Pro Complex. Or hell you could mix in some cottage cheese into your shake
(i recommend the blender here). Its not too bad if you throw in some strawberry powder and maybe 2-4 strawberries (low GI index and very few carbs).

4 times! Jees is your bladder the size of a squash ball? How much do you drink per day? I drink near on 2 gallons and only need to go once at night. Admittedly I taper off liquid intake toward night time, otherwise it would as you are experiencing, 'inconvenience' a regular sleeping pattern which is important for recovery.

I don't know what's wrong with me... I shoot for 2-2.5 gal/day.... Maybe I'll start drinking it earlier in the day and taper after dinner so I'm not getting up frequently during the night. It sucks, I'm the only person I know that pisses so much.
