Diet for 50 year old
Been working out a diet for my dad who is 50 years old and im guessing around the 25-30% BF area. I will be getting him to do his cardio 45 - an hour 4 - 5 days a week in the morning on an empty stomach, and his weight sessions 3 - 4 times a week 30 - 45 mins around 5pm at night after work. Things to keep into consideration are his age and the fact im trying to keep away from the saturated fats as much as possible. So guys lay down some suggestions. Also imput on daily caloric intake. He is 6' 50 years old and im guessing about 220??

I'd have to suggest following the principles in the cutting sticky, seeing as you already have two exercise components in place (cardio/weights), and your times reflect those that are suggested in the sticky itself.

This is what i had and seems similar to that cutting article:
6am-Cardio 45 - 60 mins
7am-4egg whites~shake (2scoops) ~ 3/4 cup of oatemeal with splenda
9am-tuna(mixed with little low fat mayo)~veggies or salad
12pm- chickenbreast and a salad or vegies
2pm - celery sticks with peanut butter
4pm - shake (1scoop) with flax
5pm workout
6pm shake (2scoops) with flax and 40g dextrose
630ish - meats, veggies, brown rice for dinner
8pm veggies or something light as a snack
ok now guys critique this is what i had and looks similar to the cutting diet. Add where needs to be added and take away what needs to be taken.Last edited by canadian_mofo; 08-18-2004 at 12:56 PM.

IMO, 2 things you should change, instead of the low fat mayo, opp for the fyll fat as the low fat is usually filled with sugars. the other thing is instead of the 40g dex, opp for 80g's, as the dex - protien ratio should be 2:1.
also, that i just noticed, at 6pm for his PWO shake you have flax in there, u should get rid of that. never mix fat/carbs especially with dex and post workout. the 2 scoops and 80g of dex should be fine.
other than that your good to go bro,
