    Trouble with hardboiled eggs?

Ok I know I sound rediculous, but I have trouble hardboiling eggs.

Usually I put them in a pot and add warm water. Than I hit the flame and it usually takes 5-10 minutes for the boiling to start. Than AFTER the boiling starts I wait 10 minutes. Than I pour out the hot water and run cold water over them. Than I crack and peel them.

The problem is sometimes the yolks come out kind of runny and I know you can get salmonilla from uncooked yolks.

So what should I do? Boil them longer?

How do you guys do it?

Shoot, sometimes I forget about them and they end up boiling for 20 - 30 minutes. Ha.

Wait longer for the yolk to harden before taking the shell of. I always cook a few days worth and just crack them when I'm ready to eat them.

    I hate soft boiled eggs.........ughhh........

I put them in the pot and turn on the heat. when it boils hard turn off the heat and let them sit for 20 min. then hit em with Ice cold water. they peel perfect and yellow are hard every time.

That's a really good idea. I'll have to start doing that. Mark

if you spin an egg on its side and its wobbly its not fully done. If it spins around without wobbling your egg is done....

Cooking times depend on the size of the egg, the bigger the longer. I usually just let them sit in the water for a short time (after I turn off stove)to make sure they are fully cooked. 30minutes

i'm lazy....I boil a pot of water, drop in a couple dozen eggs, let boil for 20 minutes, let sit in water until water is cool then just put back in carton and toss in fridge. Crack'em open when you eat them to prevent dry egg white syndrome.

Boil water first, add eggs, boil 20 minutes, then QUICKLY transfer to ice cold water for a few minutes. When I'm slow with the transfer or if the water isn't really cold, the shell seems to peel off with some white rather than just on its own. Hope that helps.
