So I painted this guys house this weekdend.....(nutrition question inside)

And he turns out to be quite a hunter. As part of my payment I told him I'd take some deer meat he had. To my surprise he gave me a large cooler full of it. Now my freezer is packed to the brim with deer meat.

does anybody know the nutrition facts of it? Or where I can find it? Thanks in advance.

    Try this site:

    http://www.caloriecontrol.org/

I believe deer meat is very lean and similar nutritional content of turkey.

Not necesarily, I was just assuming that site would have something. I'll check somewhere else.

You should have searched the net using the word, venison (deer meat).

    http://www.avenison.com/nutrition.html

Deer meat (Venison) has the greatest amount of proetien per ounce when compared to other meats.

    Venison (3.6 oz) contains:
159 calories, 3.3 grams of fat, 66mg of cholesterol, 25 grams of protein

Venison is the bomb......tastes great and good macronutrient content. Make sure to save a few lbs for making jerky, that stuff makes the best jerky you will ever eat.

I had some venison once and was not impressed. Maybe it was just he preperation. It was just tomato sauce and some herbs. Found it rather bland.

really? I like to marinate it overnight with some of those marinades you can get at the grocery. Or, cut some slits in it and season it with some garlic salt, crused red pepper, and coarse black pepper. Let it soak up all the flavors for a day or at least 6 hours or so, then you can cook it in a pan, fry it (although I try to eat less fried food these days) and its delicious. Of course, just because I like it doesnt mean you will. Everybody is different. chicamahomico is right on though, the jerkey is hands down nothing short of fantastic. I wish I could make it. maybe I'll just put it in the sun for a day or two

    venison

b/c its so lean, it's very easy to over cook venison. the best way is to marinate it and fry it up. it's also very good dipped in a seasoned flower and fried in butter. of course, this doesn't fit most cutting style diets. bottom line, it's a great protein source and tastes great (if it's from a good deer....buck meat can be too gamey or musky) if it's not over cooked.
