    Whats the leanest , cheapest red meat??

    not sure what's the cheapest...i always go with whatever's on sale.

    if you can find cheap meat - flank steak, etc - it's usually a little tough, but pretty lean. that's always a good option IMO.

    it's not nearly as lean...but everyonce inawhile ya gotta splurge on a good juicy (fatty) porterhouse...

    top round is the leanest there is. . .and you can even cook it on the foreman and it taste good

    i just buy ground beef at a&p or pathmark and get 90-93% lean.. and use half the package as my PWO meal with brown rice. Lean enough and cheap as hell :P

    I buy the 70-80% lean ground beef for ~1.20/lb, then cook it, strain it and wash it with water, makes it something like less than 4 g/fat per 4oz. Red meat doesnt get much leaner or cheaper than that.

    Yea thats good i have seen it here recently for .99 per lb. and now i got alot less space in my freezer

    Fillet Steak (grilled) 30g 6g
    Rump Steak with fat (grilled) 27g 12g
    Rump Steak with fat (fried) 29g 14g
    Rump Steak lean only (grilled) 28g 6g
    Rump Steak lean only (fried) 30g 8g
    Silverside (boiled) 29g 14g
    Silverside lean only (boiled) 32g 5g
    Sirloin (roast) 24g 21g
    Sirloin lean only (roast) 28g 10g
    Stewing Steak 30g 11g
    Topside (roast) 26g 12g
    Topside lean only (roast) 30g 5g

    I do the same thing.. for some reason my woman does not like watered down cheeseburgers.
