    Oats Substitute

    Hey,

I've noticed that alot of you guys use oats in both bulking and cutting diets. Is there anything else you can substitute as an early day carb when on a cutter. I just can't seem to stomach oats? What else is good

i was the same way...now i mix mine into a pancake

cup of oats, a banana, 150g egg whites, 1 scoop protein powder, and some splenda...tastes like banana bread, but a lot healthier

So you just mix that up and cook like a pancake?

I am just trying to get ideas for earlier meals.

yeah, mix it in a blender for about 20 seconds. I usually make 2 pancakes out of it, easier to flip that way...

oats are horrible, so ive tried quite a few things to get them, without eating them plain, this has been my best concoction

Throw them in your pro shake, makes them easier and quicker to get down.

    OK,

If you throw them into a shake...do you cook them first?

nope...just mix toss in the raw oats with some protein powder and water...mix and enjoy.

as for other carbs...pick anything low GI - yams, brown rice, etc...don't feel confined to the traditional sense of "breakfast foods" and only those things that are considered breakfast by others...your diet is different from theirs so don't worry about them.

Made the oat/banana pancakes and they werent bad, but just alot to eat. I had a hard time getting one down and had one left over.

I may go with just blending the oats in with some protein for one of my carb meals early in the day

i agree, they are a lot to eat, but im bulking, and every meal feels this way to me. Im pretty sick of it and ive only been doing it 2 weeks. But, its my best tasting meal of the day.

    Well,

I am trying to do somewhat of a lean bulk instead of a strict cutter

What about getting two of those huge low carb tortillas? (4-5 grams carbs each)

Make an egg/cheese/etc. burrito out of them.

Yes, you'll have fat in them of course, but since u are bulking (lean or not) the low carbs here won't hurt you with the fat. You can always adjust the fat up/down too, to what you feel is best for your goals.

I like to make egg/cheese/bacon burritos, and have found that I can get away with it.

    SC,

Yeah, I love those babies and have been using them for awhile. That is a perfect substitue. How about low carb whole grain wheat bread...is that OK.

I am going to post my diet on another thread and see how it works out.

Usually bread has more carbs than these tortillas, and it's hard to make burritos out of them!

I just do the tortilla thing myself........
